The thing about "cancerous/toxic/antifun" champs

I could easily see the boards stick these labels on anyone. And that's not a problem with the champs, it's how a game like this has to work. Champions are supposed to be able to express themselves, and they're supposed to be able to do things. And if they're doing things to you, you aren't going to enjoy it. But wait, you're playing a champ too, so you can do things to the champ that's doing things to you!

Hitting them back is a valid form of counterplay. That adc right clicked on you? That's what they do. Either kill them or tank their damage or go do whatever you're supposed to do if it's neither of those things.

A lot of the time you also have tools to not let the other champ do what they want to do. That Morg wants to bind you? Dodge it and fight her. That Vlad wants to harass in lane? All-in his ass. That Nasus wants to farm? Harass him. That's how a pvp game has to work. If you're complaining that your enemy laner got on you, barfed out damage, and got away without a scratch you should wonder why you weren't doing something to him.

There are a couple champs that kinda deserve these labels (i feel so dirty playing vlad) but for the most part these guys are also what pushes players to improve. But we certainly don't need to put these labels on every fotm and everything that gets played by the pros.

The thing is though, when Nautilus locks me down and slowly burns me to death, I can see that. When a Fiora baits me into going in and parries my CC stunning me, I can see that. When Kayle beats the shit out of me for disrespecting her sustained damage, I can see that.

Now

When I beat a Tryndemere 8 times in lane and he still singlehandedly wipes out all my turrets and out duels anyone trying to stop him, that's bullshit. When I see a full AP chogath with a dorans ring sustain all his health and tank out a two man gank, then proceed to eat me, that's bull shit. When I'm forced to babysit a Nasus top lane the ENTIRE game. That's bull shit.

The whole thing about "cancerous/toxic/antifun" champs begun with mobility or some unvournability mechanics.

In old days when dash or gap closer was rare sight you could have punished enemy. Now? With all skillshits/slow projectiles?

Goodluck trying to win against [examples]Fizz/Yasuo[/examples] or something like that. They can totally nullify your ultimate for no good reason while kill you in split second.

Other example: Riven. She's AD monster that even gets shield from building AD. She has so much stuff in her kit, that Riot could make about 6 other champions from what she has. And there'd be still leftovers..

The good old days?

Nidalee Jax Tristana Corki Shaco Tryndamere MasterYi Katarina and Kassadin still existed then, and the ultimates of Pantheon TwistedFate could reach anywhere on the map.

Kassadin . Most mobile champion in LoL until his fairly recent reworknerf. One of the original 40. Champions weren't slow in the before times.

There was never a time in LoL where champions didn't have gap-closers, there was never a time when mobility wasn't important. Mobility has always been important, and it's always been a massive factor.

And the new champions often aren't any faster than the old ones. Riven in her prime isn't any faster than Nidalee was in hers. A lot of older champions were more annoying to out-maneuver than their newer counterparts as well.

Champions can "express themselves" without being anti fun or oppressive. Riot is just lazy when it comes to balancing.
