Thoughts on board removal

Its not like Riot has ever listened to the forums/boards in recent memory. Been here since Season 2 and I can only think of one instance where there was a sense that a Rioter listened to what was posted and that was back in Season 3. We come here to complain, to air our grievances for others to see. Rather than reading the boards and policing them, Riot has "hired" community moderators who definitely don't highlight or otherwise refer posts to Riot should they prove to be constructive.

As such the boards just become a cesspool of negativity and toxicity. Riot deleting the boards, not even archiving, is admissions of their failures. Their failures to leverage community feedback, both negative and positive; and failure to police their own forums effectively. Its sad, but I'm not surprised at this point. Between to the rampant bugs with the client that have been around for literally years, and the fact that they continuously make gameplay changes that most here don't agree while providing no real dialogue for said changes, yeah taking down the boards is proof they don't give a damn about our opinions!

Repay the favor with not supporting them, not playing their games and not buying any of their products.

I'm not gonna miss it that much. I think I'm at a point in my life where I don't care about the game as much as I used to. So the boards being removed, to an extent, is a way for me to forget about the game overall.

I fucking hate the LoL subreddit, and I just hate the concept of upvoted posts in general. It's a fucked up way to control who has a voice in any matter. And despite the boards, for the majority of its lifetime, having upvotes as a feature, it was typically a smaller group of players that talked about league, in the numbers of, idk, I wanna say like 2k? Meanwhile, the subreddit has like 50k at any given time or some high number like that.

But yeah, the boards was just a place people would come to cry about a loss or getting their accounts suspended and some knucklehead putting up a rioting post to garner attention and hatred towards Rioters and the company about 65% of the time, and the other 35% being a mix of something decent.

Preach.

The moderators here are simple "spam prevention" and "deleters of porn" - they are not moderators nor are they community representatives. They did not enforce threads to be useful. They did not make good use of megathreads because "it's too much work". And they now wonder why Riot left here for Reddit where the moderators actually curate discussion better.

I am going to miss the boards and some of the familiar people here. I literally just joined participating on the board like a month ago and of course that's when it's getting deleted. Just my luck! [sg-shisa]
