I Believe There Needs To Be More Counterplay Against Shields
Every other situation has an item or two to deal with it. To deal with health, you got BOTRK and LDR. To deal with healing, You got Icon and Mortal Reminder. To deal with armor, you got Armor pen and Lethality. To deal with MR, you got magic pen. SO WHY IS THERE NOTHING FOR SHIELDS?
For those of you who say, "The point of shielding is to protect your allies. It wouldn't be fair if you took that away," You're wrong. There's healing supports whose job is to keep their allies alive by healing them and there are items that counter that. Mobility? There are items that counter that. Hell even CC has one item to counter it, QSS, and tenacity to reduce it.
For those of you who say, "Well wait til the shield runs out," how do you wait a shield out that is used in the moment of attack? By then, your attacks have already been used and even if you did wait, it's not like the enemy is a bot who will sit there and let you punish them by the time the shield wears off.
"If you and your teammate focuses the adc you can out damage the shield." HAAA. That would be true but you're missing one minor detail. Supports do more than just shield. All shielding supports provide some sort of CC that makes it dam near useless to even think about trading or winning the fight.
All you're left with is having to constantly stack up on damage which does nothing since they scale their shields up along with your damage. All your farming, all your efforts go to waste against champions that shield because there is no counter play against it. Imagine being ahead in itemization and cs and still lose trades because your extra item and xp gets soaked by a shield you can't shoot through.
Instead of making Yuumi a whack ass version of Sona, they could've made her/him/it an anti-shield champ or something. Instead of making Spear of Shojin a busted ass item, they could've made it an anti-shield item. I'd be fine with making an anti-shield item strictly for supports.
