Daily Reminder: Baron is NOT more important than an inhibitor

GhaelWinds··5 votes·747 views

Please, if you get an ace, or 4 members of the enemy team GO GET THE INHIBITOR. Its not that hard. Baron will help a LOT less than the inhibitor, its shorter time, it doesn't add permanent lane pressure. So please, the next time you ace the enemy team, take the inhibitor. Not the baron.

Edit: Im going to add unless you are Diamond+ here because they actually know how to use it. Everyone before that is just confused on how to properly use it. This is coming from a plat player who everyone and myself included cant properly use baron.

I think it has to do more with where the fight was, than which one is better. It can take 10 sec just to travel from the river to a inhib plus knock down time. It might be safer to take baron off the board heal up. Instead of being chased out of the base and the enemy picking off one or two and taking the baron themselves.

The only absolute in league is that each game is different, no rule for game play choices are always 100% correct all the time.

If you just won a teamfight in front of Baron pit and there are 4 of you still alive, your jungler included, then open inhib or not, you better be taking that fucking baron

GhaelWinds1 votes

Uhm, no. The baron is very useless unless you are diamond+ before that no one knows how to use it properly and me being in plat, it is always better in that scenario to go for the inhibitor.

Papa Slothy2 votes

uh, it's not that complicated and baron can help you siege out the inhib later

GhaelWinds1 votes

With baron you can either group as 5 and the baron will be under their turret which gives them the advantage in fights, or you can split which then it becomes a 4v5 which also gives them an advantage. baron only drags out a game instead of the inhibitor which will ALWAYS push the lane in while you siege a different lane and force a 4v5 when one of them leaves to waveclear

Papa Slothy1 votes

it's sortof based on the enemy and your team's comp which is more valuable

also if someone splitpushes they force the enemy to respond of lose more objectives

the point of baron is to pressure all lanes at once

GhaelWinds1 votes

In theory, in practice that's not exactly how it ends up.

altho overall this argument is a lil invalid cause it's all circumstancial

That is a disgustingly generalized view of lower tier play, and disgustingly inaccurate as well. I can count on one hand every game where winning a team fight and getting an inhib over Baron won us the game in the long run

This is very situationally dependent. If your team comp is something like Cait, Ziggs & Nid and you can only get one Baron is going to be better most of the time, the best case for a team like this is multiple inhibs off of a single Baron due to their immense poke, in the majority of cases they should get at least on inhib tower, which is slightly better than if they just took inhib since Baron also gives gold and EXP.

In the majority of cases you're right, but there are edge cases where it's better to grab a Baron.

GhaelWinds1 votes

True, but in plat elo we dont know how to use a baron, so getting it is just useless. Inhibs are almost always way more useful to grab unless you are in diamond or something.

not entirely true.

Baron will not always help less than the inhib. If they have some way to keep you from getting the nexus towers for whatever reason and you take that inhib it could actually cost you the game because taking the inhib can also hurt you by pushing the lane up for them to freeze it and antisiege forever.

freezing a superminion lane??

freezing a superminion lane??

correct

freeze a superminion lane and pummel the enemy team with artillery while starving the enemy so you can drag the game out for your hypercarry.

Later you can contest a baron, steal, and potentially take the game. This has been done in tournament games.

enemy team now splits 4/1 on your side lanes.

What now? I've seen people try this. It almost always fails.

Don't worry about what people do in tournament games. You aren't LCS or even close.

neither are my opponents. The concept is proven. The inhib can also hurt you and we can play with people we know to get better coordination. If they split 4/1 you split 3/1/1 an have the 1 in mid push the lane up some going to whichever lane they are needed in. You don't have to win either fight, you just have to lose and if they want to push the lane up on you then good for them. You gain from it too.

The point is to waste as much of their time as possible while the hypercarry charges up. A pro team in a particular tanky meta could keep this up for like 20-30 minutes before things started to collapse from all the seiging but it was too late at this point and the kog was online.

I don't think it works. The only champs that can clear supers fast enough are carries or a fed bruiser, and if you are lacking a carry in a major fight you will be at a severe disadvantage and if you have a fed bruiser (that I don't even know how you got fed, seeing that you lost your inhib), they're not defending the splitpush.

You don't need a fed brusier, you don't need to win the major fight right away, all you have to do is not lose. Just gragas barrel and mundo BS them to death in a super tanky meta and stall them out, if you need the adc to come after the enemy overcommits they can fire their artillery abilities and enter the fight from far away. Big issue is that if they can hop the wall they can take a risk and try to kill you and some champs can get back over too. But a lot of times this isn't going to happen if they cant see where you are right away, this was also mostly pre-trinkets but even seeing them doesn't fix it on its own.

Point is, splitpushing doesn't counter it completely, youre still going to have to actually put up a good fight to end and the inhib can help them stall you out if you don't have enough ending power on your own without the baron to help

ALWAYS go for the baron over the inhib, unless u can get 2+ inhibs. 80% of the time they chose inhib over baron in soloq the enemy team just spawns and rushes baron then sieges down whichever lane has super minion pressure.

A lot of times.

What ends up happening is the lowbies over stay at inhib, 3 or 4 of them die. Enemy gets baron + two inhibs and ends the game.

Some times it's simply better to get an extra 300 gold + exp + buff. If you already won a team fight, the odds of you losing a baron buff team fight is astronomically low + allows you to clean up other turrets and 80% chance get 2 to 3 inhibs out of it.

Nash >>> Inhib Massive Global XP + Local XP bonuses Massive gold bonus When you do it, you ensure the ennemy team won't get it Extremely powerful and long buff Motivation for grouping

If there is 1% chance that the ennemy team steal nash, don't even think of doing it. If it's an ace, it's not even situational (except if you can finish the game), you MUST take nash or it 'll just reduce your winning chances.

If I had something to say on nash : if you're ahead and can't push because they have waveclear or you're not ahead enough to dive, and you can't let them stall etc., do NOT try to KILL nash, get pinks and control the vision around nashor and BAIT nash and let them come to it and dive them there outside of their tower range, but stop fucking staying on nash if they come, killing it is NOT the point of such a call, because if they steal, it'll be gg :)...

Just had one of my teams today think that taking a mid lane tower was more important than a free Elder Dragon. Of course the enemy team took it and won the game 1 minute later.

Inhibitor> Epic Monsters> tower But yea, that sucks haha
