Rito, Why Do You Hate My Money??

This is a thread devoted to ideas Riot should really do if they want to make more of that sweet, sweet $. Here are three things I desperately want in this game and would happily pay for. Please include the amount of cash you are willing to spend for each idea.

  1. Map Skins $40/map This one I'm pretty surprised has not been done. As far as I know the only alternative to the green Summoner's Rift we all know and love is the Winter version of it. But wouldn't it be great to see Shurima, Zaun, The Shadow Isles, Bandle City, and more perhaps with alternative creeps once in a while? This could work by owners of the map skin initiating it and the rest of the players voting on which one they want to play on, if any. Because I understand this would be a huge undertaking, I think $40 worth of RP would be a fair price- one that many players other than I would certainly be willing to pay to play in.

  2. Custom Chromas $15/skin Chromas are awesome and all but sometimes I can't get into them because the choices are often nightmares of colors mixed together. It would be so much fun to be able to choose exactly what parts of each skin get what colors and be able to spend hours making stylish figures of my favorite chroma skins. If this ever happens I hope they make it so you can multiple save spots for alternative versions.

  3. Un-buying Champs $1/champ I'm a huge ARAM player and really hate how my only option for making my experience better (ruling out regrettable champs I own) is to start a new account. If you can buy a champion why can you not unbuy one??? It would be more fair to unbuy with essence or just for free but I would gladly slap $15 to get rid of Tryndamere, Udyr, Kled, Olaf, Urgot (hate the new one), and some other champs that I dislike playing and wish I never bought.

What else you got?

No, ARAM should instead become totally random, where you roll from the whole roster and can get champs you do not own (obviously temporarily unlocked for the match if you roll them).

No more cheese.

I like all of these except the un-buying thing. The main problem is 1. Who cares about ARAM, and 2. You need practice with other champs, kinda what ARAM is for.

I believe I have read somewhere before, in which you can send in a support ticket asking riot to remove a champion from your champion pool. if that's true, then you better hurry before they start charging you money for it :)

40$ for a map skin is ridiculous. I'd be willing to pay maybe 10$.

Map skins do tend to pose competitive integrity issues, or at best make testing for such that much harder.

All abilities/champs/particles/etc are largely tested to make sure everything shows up clearly against the normal SR backdrop with and without coulorblindness mode on, but map skins have been known to cause issues in that regard, since what shows up fine against the hues of normal rift may be essentially invisible against a white backdrop or whatever else.

They get away with it to a degree during events since they're only active in normals (and more recently, actually something that can be disabled), but those are some strong considerations when thinking about fiscal feasibility. You might be willing to pay a lot for a map skin that everyone plays on and theres a vote, but many others may feel your price for that is already high. If you then cut it back so the skin only works in normals, then that probably reduces the value to many players (but probably still costs riot the same amount). If you then cut it back further so the skin is only optionally visible so potentially the only one seeing it is you yourself, then then reduces what people are probably willing to pay for it even more, as people probably want to show off their skins.

Similar applies to custom chromas.

Champ removal player support is willing to do for you, although it's a one way deal and not a refund, so if you later want the champ back you'd have to buy it again.

(If you-only strictly cosmetic map skins/chromas is something that does appeal to you, I think that's a somewhat grey area you can modify yourself that riot doesn't typically punish for last I heard. Would be pretty wary of programs involved in it since theres no telling what other stuff might be lurking in the code, but in principle custom skin stuff exists.)

Well, if it is a matter of particles, map skins could be unavailable to use in ranked. I don't think the downside of using them in norms would upset the huge upside of playing on different maps. Include an option in settings to auto-veto maps for the few people that wouldn't want to play on them and make it those players are more likely to match up. Problem solved.
