Song of Celerity (E) Active changed to 25/50/75/100/125 additional attack range on Sona's next attack within 3 seconds from 13/14/15/16/17% decaying movement speed Ally movement speed duration increased to 3 from 1.5

originally this was gonna be a massive increase to movement speed (22-30% i think) so why the change to bonus range? :(

Well its the pbe but its looking really grim atm, i think rickle wants to try out a debuff sona where she uses powerchord W/E instead of the most popular Q.

Can't say i love it one bit, she still have the exact same weakness before this "rework" but just early damage sacrificed for a little utility.

i never thought sona was particularly weak but she "felt super weak" because of her lack of agency, she's super vulnerable and immobile for a lower range support, and i thought the move speed buff would help address that more then this increased range buff

Trust me, this is exactly how i feel. The previous change address this problem that let players felt they were more than an ult bot. While the most recent changes is just really out of the blue

EDIT: i should have specified her weakness in the previous post; her lack of disengage/mobility made her super vulnerable to ganks if she wins lane, if she loses lane you'll just feed more because you can't re-position fast enough.

You have me thinking, what if Sona auras don't just work positively on allies but they work negatively on enemies at the same time? It sounds OP, but I'm sure they could adjust the numerical values and aura range. Ally aura range = 400, enemy aura range = 800 (maybe 600 for E, think Omniknight in Dota)

Q aura = increased ally AA damage, decreased enemy AA damage W aura = shield/heal for teammate, DoT based on %missingHP for enemy OR Grievous Wounds application E aura = increased ally speed, decreased enemy speed

I'd also suggest E affecting attack speed as well, but Ardent and Frozen Heart synergy might make that overboard. OR if this is too OP, maybe she can choose by-ear if she wants her aura to affect allies or enemies?

Thoughts??

Its an extremely interesting kit but its fundamentals create a very feast of famine kind of character; you either win lane build pure tank and perma debuff enemy or u feed your ass off without doing anything, essentially making your whole kit void.. I do believe more refining is needed but because it was spitballing(i supposed?) the concept to me is nice!

Seems a bit odd. What is Sona intended to do with that? Is she supposed to actually get close to enemies and actively try to debuff them, or is it only a punishment for going near her? If the former is true, how does that fit with her mage design? How does it enhance Sona's gameplay to start expecting her to go melee mode? I'm not sure I want to be required to do that. If the second is true, then it seems odd, because enemies should feel good about attempting to get close to Sona and tear her apart. Additionally, if it is going to be that major of a mechanic, then it stands to reason that we should want Sona to make active use of it instead of having it just kind of happen to enemies that come near her.

I don't think it sounds OP, but it sounds like something that could be really boring. It could easily turn into something that completely warps Sona's play towards melee range engagements and building tanky if the debuffs are too strong. That doesn't sound like what I want from Sona. However, if the debuffs are not amazingly strong, they could also easily be passive punishments for going near her; a numerical advantage in her gameplay that she never actually thinks about or makes any effort to use. If they're going to get power, then I don't want them to be something I never really take into consideration when playing her.

My initial instinct is that it wouldn't work very well for her.

She still gets the 3 second movement speed that her allies get. So you can use E as the second note then switch to Q or W for a long range power chord.

wait do u have access to the pbe? if so what are the aura speed boost numbers?

I don't have a PBE account, just read it from the twitter account.

As for the aura speed: It is 10-14% (based on level) + 4% per 100 AP

Thanks!

Im also curious what your opinions are on this changes?

With the ult passive making her QWE go as low as 2 seconds and the changes to item 3114 and it upgrades boosting heals and shields, I am actually really looking forward to using Sona again as a support.

if so what are the aura speed boost numbers?'

The same they are on live. She will receive the same speed boost that her allies do.
