Why Is AutoFill Forced? It only causes problems, especially in low elo?

Could anyone explain why its permanently on and forced? It barely shaves off any queue time in low elo bronze-gold, and statistically at least for myself, i've almost lost every single game where I've been put off role. So what is it's presence for?

Of course it absolutely makes sense in high elo because there is a much smaller player pool and way longer queue times especially at non peak hours. But in low elo it just sets up more problems than we already have? I had a game a week or so ago where 3 of us, me and two others, were off rolled, the other two argued in chat and nobody would or could switch anything, i could not dodge unfortunately because it was as promo game. Needless to say it was obviously lost. But it begs the question, why should it have happened in the first place?

Because people aren't queueing for the rolls to begin with. That's why you're getting autofilled. It's not there for shits and giggles.

People in low elo have this "I have to carry so I can get out of bronze/silver" mentality. Who, with that in mind, would willingly queue up for support? Not enough people, really.

This is why autofill is a thing.

The previous method was pick order. Worked quick, but most of the time you were fucked if you were later in the champ select. Draft + autofill is CONSIDERABLY more reasonable and well-done.

Try to get some autofill-only champs in your pool, just in case. It helps to have people who work in multiple scenarios. For example, I main supp, secondary top. Maokai is good in either position, but could also go jg if needed. Similarly, Gragas or Nautilus. Jayce can work mid/top, sometimes taken bot. Kennen works top/bot. Etc.

Expand your pool a little. It's really all you can do.

To be fair, who in their right mind would support in low elo?

I stopped supporting because those monkeys preferred kills over objectives. Half of my last seasons losses were the result of this idiocy.

You just made a pro-autofill argument. No one would want to do it, but SOMEONE has to.

Besides, it's not THAT bad. I'm in low elo and I've got a 61% winrate right now. 77% on Alistar over 13 games, 83% on Maokai over 6. It definitely is better with a duo, though.

I am pro-autofill.

I'm not a whiny baby, I played before role selection was released, a time where you had to know every role at a decent level.

Oh, alright then. Just used to people always being against it haha.

I'm not the biggest fan of autofill but I get why it's there and just kinda deal with it if I've gotta.

I have average 2 minutes queue, last season (when autofill wasn't a thing) I had 4/5.. Yes it's twice the time but it's not an unreasonable time to wait.. Then it works REALLY bad. I queue mid/support, plenty of time I have been matched with autofilled supports who were queuing with mid as their first role.. Like wtf once they get picked to fill the slot in the team the system should be coded to control queue roles and see if we can be adjusted: We can have 1 player in his primary and 1 in his secondary instead of 1 in his primary and 1 autofilled..

People have low Elo for a reason that autofill both helps and hurts. Lack of experience in other roles is a major problem in the overall knowledge pool of most low elo players, thus getting autofilled anywhere causes problems that don't need to exist. On the same token, a person can't improve if they aren't willing to expand their horizons.

High elo players can reasonably fill any role well enough to not be a burden on their team, with a few OTP exceptions.

Now that the game has 5 seemingly set positions like other "sports", in lower elos, you can't really expect them to be able to play all five positions. You shouldn't really expect them to play more than two well enough to survive. So in Ranked, it should be turned off for Plat and under, more or less. For Norms, leave it on.

Ya I agree, the "its just because nobody in low elo wants to play support" argument is really thin and weak. If that were the case then I wouldn't be autofilled mid or top which has happened plenty of times. It should never be on for plat and under. There are plenty enough players and honestly, on any day at any time that I'm playing I would MUCH RATHER WAIT a few extra minutes of queue time for a properly positioned team. Rather than the support main being filled to top and our adc main being filled to mid. So both get shit all over and feed hard. There is no true full real argument for it being absolutely necessary.

If anything they could AT LEAST make it a Monday-Thursday thing, and then leave it off for Friday-Sunday. Since those are days more players are online.

I know for a fact that if someone could run through my account and the system and see every game that I or someone else was autofilled, it would statistically show that losing is far more prevalent then winning.

Auto-Fill in Ranked was an okay theory. But in reality, it ends up taking a crap on the elo system it was intended to protect. Getting autofilled, or even the mention of it in a ranked game, is like drawing a 5' Guard to play Center in a game of pickup basketball. Everyone on your team is auto-tilted just knowing one of your teammates is "out of position" and out of their element. If the other team doesn't have a similar auto-fill, and usually they don't, you get squashed.

Autofilled SPT/TOP/BOT really don't hurt as much unless they troll or are otherwise really uncomfortable in the role, but will still cause enough deficiency in their filled role to be a weight on the team. Autofilled JNG and MID are almost always an automatic loss due to how vital both roles are in controlling the map. Since the games elo system is almost entirely based on Wins and Losses, it really begs the question how they can justify forcing people into positions they can't play knowing it will artificially effect the ratings of nine other players.

I don't understand why people complain about this. I'm in low elo and I queue as jungle/ fill every game. I've gotten jungle in my last 12 games straight.
