Hitbox overcompensating for your Skillshots

Just got out of a game, and all through the game I noticed something iffy, what felt like a large percentage of skillshots were missing me and my team--and they would still register as hits?

Wtf?

Is there something I'm missing? I even watch the replay and slowed it down to 1/4th speed, and you literally see the skillshot FLY BY the champ, and then register as a "hit". Like what is this? It wasn't just me, but I noticed it on my Jhin and Warwick on my team as well, and I was playing Kayle. A Jinx slow whizzes right by me, yet then it registers as a hit. A Lux root flies right by Jihn, but then it roots him anyway?

I posted some examples below. This made the game really frustrating because I'm pretty familiar with my character's hitboxes and the fact that these "skillshots" just required you to shoot in a general area to register as a hit--honestly pissed me off a lot. My Kayle' Q has such a specific hit box it wants, I pretty much have to nail someone directly in the face with it for it to be a hit. But Lux and Jinx got by with just shooting near me and my ADC and their shots all landed.

It’s just league. The skill animations flat out lie to you half the time.

Yeah, there's less correlation between the animations and the hitboxes of skillshots than there should be, particularly for older champions. Blitzcrank's hook has a famously janky hitbox, but I think the worst one is Ashe's Enchanted Crystal Arrow. The hitbox is only in the tail end of the arrow, so it often looks like it "should" have hit someone who flashed at the last second. There are also a bunch of abilities that don't accurately show their area of effect (Anivia's stun jumps to mind for that one, but there are many others).

Some of this is unavoidable, since the projectiles are thematic and stylized, rather than flying rectangles, but there are some egregious examples that need work.
