Whats a good support to carry me out of silver?

Raoul··2 votes·2,856 views

Right now my highest Mastery Supports are Soraka and Nami, Bard is following, but I am looking for someone to help me carry, even though the support role has the lowest impact.

Suggestions?

[...] even though the support role has the lowest impact.

I haven't laughed this well in a long time.

What you need is some Bard.
He deals more damage than his Marksmen and I have the history to prove it. (Try this out in normals first to be sure if it fits to your playstyle)

  • Mag Pen Reds and Quints, Armor Yellows and MR Blues.
  • You skill R --> Q --> W --> E. If the enemy can out sustain and dps you in the laning phase, take W over Q. In that case you tell your Marksmen to farm, and you set up shrines, playing passively in the laning phase and waiting for your jungle. If they can outsustain and dps you, you also have to pick the Ancient Coin over the currently unbalanced Spellthief's Edge, because you won't do much trading. You'll stick to your tower. Don't underestimate your damage. Outsustain and dps is something like a good Draven and Soraka, and not Brand and whatever else. Brand's got nothing on you. In the mid to late game, switch out Nomad's Medallion for Frost Queen's Claim. The active is very strong at the moment.
  • You cannot play passively if the rest of your team is doing badly.
  • In any other case, stick to your Marksman and play aggressively with Spellthief's Edge. Dodge Skillshots, hit your meeps and proc your Thunderlords. In your Masteries, you put 5 points into the flat Armor and Mag Pen, not into the 5% CDR. Nobody needs 5% CDR.
  • You build: item 3303 item 2003 --> item 3098 item 2049 --> item 3092 item 3020 item 3094 --> item 3136 These are your core items. You don't have to upgrade Haunting Guise until late into the game. I suggest Iceborn's Gauntlet in most cases as last item. With it, enemies can hardly fight back or run away. If you're up against almost only AP, Aeges of the Legion, Abyssal Scepter, Zz' Rot Portal or Banshee's Veil are all acceptable alternatives.
  • With your RFC you outrange most other champions, and you'll have about 50 flat Magic Pen now. Most Marksmen have 30 Mag Pen, so you deal 25% increased magic damage as true damage.
  • Rush 5 chimes in the early game for the slow, but stick to your Marksman for lane control. If you only get 2 chimes before going to lane, it isn't that bad. One chime more or less won't count then, yet. Collect a bunch of chimes in the roaming phase for insane base stats.
  • All in all, this will allow you to kill Marksmen from afar without giving them a chance to fight back. All three slows (FQC, Meeps, Iceborn) and your stun makes it impossible for them. Your shrines heal you and help with running away after dealing your damage. If you set up a portal, stun the guys that follow you and throw a meep at them.
  • You also deal insane AoE damage with the cones (even to Tanks).
  • You peel like a boss.
  • In the mid game, you have to fight in 'waves' if you don't have your team to back you. You wait for a meep, you wait for Thunderlord's, your Rapid Firecannon, your Frost Queen's active. Don't just run in. This Bard dies easily up close if you don't have your tanky item yet. Don't build Needlessly Large Rod. It only makes your heals better. Mag Pen is stronger with your base stats, and tankiness in the late game allows you to deal damage more reliably.
  • Build Void Staff if the whole enemy team has a lot of Magic Resistance. This build works better the less Mages you have your team, so it works great with Assassins in your mid-lane (whom you can help much better than some ranged Mage standing next to you).
  • I suggest getting to level 4 first before trying this out in ranked, because you can show off your emblem in game to reassure them. Moral is especially important in ranked.
  • Good luck!
  • P.s.: Do try this out in normals first, and don't play it if have a bad ping. Hitting your Q and ranging enemies appropriately is very important and that's hard to do if you have lags.

Just pick the easiest support in the game: Thresh. You just have to land one skill and your enemy can't move for 10 minutes.

leona/blitz/thresh can really carry your adc and do most of the work for them. nami if you're good enough.

Both Nami & Bard are high skill intensive champions. The chance of missing out a play because you didn't pulled that mechanical combo off can really screw up a lot of your games.

For Soraka so long you smartcast her W and build her properly you can pull a lot of nice play off with her.

Still what all these champions your are playing have in common add this moment is that they are all squishy. I would really recommand to add something like Leona or Nautilus to your support pool.

LeonaBraum Nautilus and if you improve your Soraka game she will take you very far.

Leona Just go ham on level two with your Q and E and get that first blood ez pz, then your ADC should be ahead around 1 or 2 levels and the lane is practically won.

I play mage supports. My goal is usually to deal the highest damage to champs in game and completely dominate the bot lane. This is pretty doable with Brand Lux Xerath - pretty hard to counter these champs because they have high ranged damage and good CC - so that is another reason as well. Beware of Blitzcrank because he can take you out of your safe zone and Lucian because he can easily dodge your skill shots. Vs Lucian or blizz I prefer to take Leona.

A Champ you can carry with if you get a lousy team and tanks win games right now.

Rush item 3401 and item 2045 , Otherwise just build him normal, By mid to late game he's the same tanky beast as top Mundo! :D

Annie, Morgana, Lux, Vel'koz, Brand, Sona, and Thresh are all good solo queue picks because it allows you to set your team up and make plays. Making plays is actually a big part of the game, but since you can't rely on your teammates to follow up - just because you know nothing about them or how they play - it's easier to pick something with high damage honestly just because you know what you're capable of doing on your own and often times can even delete at least one person on the enemy team and make it a 5v4, usually easily coming out on top as a team.

Sona.

Blitzcrank Leona Thresh make the kill so ridiculously easy for their carry that even someone without a keyboard can get fed, if you're worried about your ADC not pulling their weight mechanically I'd say those are the best, unless you want an offensive support in case you have to carry yourself, then goBrand Annie orMorgana .
