Tali's w should be click and drag.
It feels very clunky as it is. Also, its impossible to see your circles when they fade out in teamfights.

Yeah, I feel like there is too much windup time. It becomes pretty easy to dodge, but they need to keep it possible to dodge. Something like a quarter to even a half second would make all of the difference.
Actually, something that I really wish they would have done with this ability would be to allow her to use it as a displacement on herself. It could give her a small dash or even a wall hop. .. but I'm not going to hold my breath for that.
A rioter stated they felt it would be too close to Zigg's Satchel charge, so they decided to not allow it to keep that functionality to Ziggs alone.

Yeah, that's fair, but I still think it would have been cool. I mean I understand wanting to keep some things unique to champions, but other than that Ziggs and Taliyah would not feel alike at all.
Well, except for the ground traps, .. but even the function of those are still very different. Ziggs traps trigger when they are stepped on. Taliyah's traps are only triggered by displacement and after a set time. .. I still think they are different enough.
Then remove it from Ziggs and give it to Taliyah. It makes more sense themeatically.

She already has a lot of roaming potential and cc. Ziggs gets to do it because he has no mobility otherwise and its one of his only forms of cc he's using to escape. She doesn't have that issue.
I agree. I'm betting they will fix this mechanically and call it a Quality of Life change.
more importantly, it shouldn't prevent you from casting other spells. Right now, she can't cast any other spell between statrteing her W and and the actuall knockup, it's basically a ~1sec self silence.
This! So much this! This is what feels clunky to me. If they fix this she would feel soooo much better just because of that.
No.
With other click-and-drag abilities, they are instant release, though their effect(s) may take a bit of time to resolve.
Input for Taliyah's W has a variable window. If you cast it once, it is a straight vertical knockup. Being able to cast it twice frees up your mouses movement because you've "locked in" the direction for the game system to recognize.
If W is click-and-drag, then your mouse is locked into directing the direction of W until the end of the spell. You can't move your mouse without inadvertently changing the direction, which will frequently lock you out of moving after initially casting W. That's even more clunky than it is now.
How about this: Once it's cast, there's a very small window of time for you to drag your mouse in a direction, or leave it there, after that small moment, the spell's direction has been decided and you won't have to worry about it anymore, essentially giving the same amount of time devoted to casting as currently, but with a few less clicks here and there.
Not really a big deal in retrospect, lol.
That's literally how it works now, it's just that you lock in your selection with another W cast.
The way it is currently implemented is good because it allows you to cast W and then run away from your target, rather than having your mouse drag to make the enemy knocked toward you while you're trying to run away.

It should just go off when you release the button.
The delay is intentional for counterplay reasons
^ This.
Currently, with quickcast on, casting her w prompts you to click in the direction, I'm saying it might be changed to remove that click and just cast in the direction of the mouse while in quickcast, to make it a little bit faster, because that's what quickcast, hence the name, is for.
Gonna try hitting w a second time in quickcast see if that does anything
Though it's entirely possible I'm wrong, if you don't actually click on the second portion of the W, even in quick cast, it just knocks them upwards. That's what I've been referring to.

Hitting W works, but what I dont get is why cant we click inside the circle if we want the knockup? it will push in a direction even if you click exactly where you cast it again.
Huh. I have no problems at all with her W apart from a slighhtly too long delay. With Smart cast it is already W-drag-W again; pure dragging wouldn't work as you would have to keep the cursor in the right direction til it fires (or not move it at all for the knock-up).
Well I would look at it this way. The knockup is a ground targeted area (circle). If you W, click and release before your cursor leaves the circle you are indicating a knock-up. If you click and drag out of the circle in a direction, that is the direction it will shove.

It still is clunky as smart cast.
You wouldn't need to keep it till it fires, press W, keep it pressed while draging, release it insteat of a second W to confirm the direction, it would work just as now, only with press and release instead of W1 and W2
I don't think that works as well as we'd like it to. Viktor and Rumble fire instantly, and can aim the second portion of the skill in the direction they think the opponent will run. Taliyah, on the other hand, cannot change the area affected by her W by altering the secondary cast direction. Players that have trouble efficiently inputting mouse clicks would find that they essentially have a longer cast time.
So it doesn't work that well if Taliyah were to have the exact same cast paradigm as Viktor and Rumble (pick origin and direction, THEN fire the ability). But it would probably work just fine if quickcast worked like this; mouse-down casts the ability at target area, mouse-up locks in the target direction.
I have a hard time smart casting it because i move the mouse too fast and end doing the second cast in the wrong place lol
If it was a click and drag, then how would you time when it activates? Currently you have a time buffer to cast the W, then cast again immediately or wait a bit until it just activates on its own. If there was a click and drag, then you would either have to hold down W if you didn't want to activate it yet or you would let go and it would activate right then and there. This could be a huge problem for countering dashes/leaps. I think this would make her even harder to play.
I don't like this idea.

You click and drag, toss them right when you need to? instead of janking out, silencing yourself and hitting nothing?
My only qualm with the ability is that casting W before Q or E locks you out of casting either for about a full second. THAT'S what feels clunky to me. You're almost always forced to cast E first into W or Q or get stuck doing nothing until it fires.

yea the cast animation forces you to either Q or E W. You can't do all at the same time.
I think, it should simply always automatically push enemies towards the mines. It's what you want to do 99% of time anyway.
Atm she sucks, because that knock up simply takes too much time to aim and land. And that combo is her main damage source.
