Is AP Fizz viable?

I exclusively play bruiser fizz jungle, but was wondering if AP Fizz is viable in the mid/top lane?

When did fizz become anything other than AP assassin? its like he randomly appeared overnight with a whole bunch of people playing him bruiser. Did some big name player use him in a tourney?

Everytime I pick fizz my teammates say "go ad fizz"

Idk I first started playing Fizz as AP but it didn't feel strong when I played it compared to bruiser fizz.

After his ratios got shat on and Riot made him more auto attack focused.

Any champion with scaling is good after he stacks ap... They trashed his early game, not his late (if u land the shark, you can still kill the enemy midlaner at 6)

I'm aware of his assassination potential when built as AP. But when built AP fizz it's a hit and run because of how squishy fizz is if he's caught out without his E, flash, or perhap Zhonya's.

The current tank meta favors sustain damage rather than deleting people.

It is viable, but doing so handicaps you in a way because if you were going AD Bruiser, you would be SO much more effective all stages of the game, whether team fights or 1v1 situations. So, why play something good when you can play the same thing but better?
