Players who don't try at all in ranked. What do you guys think about them? Should they be punished?

I'm sure you guys have met these types of players. Like:

  • Someone trying out a champion for the first time in your ranked match.
  • Players who just give up so fast and wanna just ff at 20.
  • Players who just don't try to win and really don't care if they lose.

What do you guys think of such players? Do you think they should be allowed to play ranked? Okay, I can understand it happening bellow Gold. But after Gold, it just becomes really frustrating and stressful to carry these types of players, and sometimes they end up almost playing like trolls that intentionally make you lose the game. This is however my opinion.

I think it would be great if such players get a warning message from Riot, and if they continue to make this offense, they should get a temporary ban from Solo Queue ranked.

Note: I am talking specifically about Solo Queue only. Not Ranked Flex, in Ranked Flex, anything goes, and I think its fine that way.

I would love to hear what someone else thinks about this!

The only people worse than these are the ones that troll outright. Ban these kids; ranked it meant to be serious and they make a joke of it.

Yes, people who play ranked try to win and ranked up. If there not going to try then they should play normal draft.

I'm not sure how those kinds of players would be punished since there isn't really any way to tell if someone is trying or not.

no. ranked needs changes as it is. i refuse to even play ranked at all. how can somebody vote no if they have never played ranked? well that is simple. i know people. people make mistakes.

what we need is a placement rank below bronze that determines a players average skill level. according to the number of yes votes during the surrender poll (i.e quitters), the players idle time (i.e.waiting for gold), the players chat time (i.e. hypocritical lecturing), and lastly gold earned (i.e. tryhards). i do not think KDR should even come into play until the bronze level. i do not think bronze is properly organized.

how can i say no though? because i want riot to focus on fixing ranked. not fixing their players. to this day i have not played 1 ranked match. "ELO hell" does not sound appealing in any way to me and my hard earned account.

I don't think so, and I absolutely do not mind people trying out first time in ranked. Ever play normals? I'm a silver main, and usually there is a plat ranked player on the other team... Since normal and Ranked mmr are separate, the games are rarely matched evenly. Usually if I try something new, I'm faced against people far better than I am, and I learn little about the champ beyond just how much I suck in general.

In that light, I do not mind the people who make the choice to try a new champion in a usually more fair environment.

As for people who don't care if they lose, that is just solid life choices. It IS a video game (despite all the Ranked people who think ranked is life and thus treat it as serious as holding a just new born baby and equate not caring if you lose to not trying to win [even though they are completely disparate thought processes]), and if you're stressing over something as simple as a video game that you play for enjoyment... Then there are probably other things that you need to figure out in life imo.

As for the ff@20 people, that is their choice, and I get a say in the matter via the vote. People have different thoughts and opinions than I do, and that is ok. Thus, it doesn't bother me too much.

I voted no only because of the trying champion in ranked for first time thing, i have trouble getting a handle on a champions strengths and weaknesses in normals because normal players both enemy and allie alike don't much care for how they win so they spend time trolling around or are otherwise testing a champion themselves, this leads to a problem because i could do 10 of these matches and go 20/0/5 then join ranked and consistently go 0/20/1 because what is optimal in normals is not necessarily optimal in ranked.

As someone who has played ranked for 3 seasons now (5, 6, and now 7) I've witnessed a lot of games that were forfeited. In my opinion, every game is winnable. Yesterday I played a game where we were destroying the enemy nexus, then we got aced, and they won. If you are going to forfeit, you shouldn't play ranked. If you have low tolerance for people who forfeit, you shouldn't play ranked. Because people are going to forfeit. There are so many of them it's impossible to get rid of them, and in some cases, the game will seem hopeless, and forfeiting tilts you less. I voted yes, because in an idyllic world, I'd love for people to be removed from playing ranked if they forfeited, but it's just not possible. It definitely ruins the game, having the option to ff, but it's good in certain occasions like if the enemy is turtling, but they are so far ahead you can't win.
