I really miss Soraka.

I've tried countless times to get back into her but she's just an entirely different champion. Playing her feels like a chore now instead of fun. I like her April Fools skin but I just can't bring myself to buy it knowing I groan every time I play her.

RIP old Soraka

I think new Soraka is more fun. Old Soraka had really long cool downs and no skillshots. New Soraka requires more decision making.

The only thing I miss about old soraka was typing in all capitals in champ select that I would give them mana like Oprah.

"YOU GET MANA, AND YOU GET MANA! EVERYONE LOOK UNDER THEIR CHAIRS, IT'S MANA"

Mariah Carey4/22/2015, 9:09:44 AM5 votes

She used to be able to give herself Mana too. Then only allies (which was fine.) Then they completely changed her E. Now not only can she not give mana, she can't heal herself, and gets punished for healing. One too many stabs to the back. She's just not fun to play anymore.

I wholeheartedly second that.

I understand why they did what they did to her of course, but fishing for Qs so that I don't kill myself doing my main purpose... like you said, feels like a chore and makes me groan. Healthier gameplay as it may be.

Who likes her may like her, but my first favorite and to friends signature champion for me is gone for me, makes me sad man.

I also miss the old Soraka. She was relaxing to play but still an asset to the team.

Her feeling like a chore now sounds right.

It just feels so painful healing allies, when EVERY OTHER HEALER IN THE GAME only needs to use some of their mana to heal an ally. So what if her heal is on a 4 second cooldown, it costs a chunk of her health too and puts you into a position of "Do I heal you or do I just try and save myself?" I used to like Soraka as she was both a healer and a mana-giver, and Starcall was a genuinely interesting spell. Soraka was capable of being used in other lanes, not just as a support. But now she's ONLY support, and not even a very good one.

There were so many simple changes that could have been done to fix old Soraka. Instead they reworked her and everyone just went to play Nami/Sona instead.

I liked the old kit more too. With her old kit, she could protect her ADC with a clutch heal and an armor buff. Despite having a lower cooldown, her current heal can't protect an ADC from getting bursted down. With the new Soraka, if a Zed/Talon attacks you and your ADC, at least one of you will die. (I guess if this is what I'm looking for, then I should play a support that has a shield, like Lulu.) I never really had a problem with "unfun" playing against Soraka: I just knew that healing was her gimmick, and she was lacking in CC as a result.

Also, the new Starcall feels worthless in teamfights.

New Soraka is awesome! Making an ADC have an effective 1000 extra health over a 5 second fight? Thats insane. Watching your top laner die under his tower by ignite after surviving the 2v1 dive, then screaming LIVE and he goes back to farming. Denied the enemy potential shut down gold and he can shove the wave into the enemy tower.

All of her abilities are so much better now, except maybe her passive. Q is a lot more interactive, it requires skill to land. God forbid if you land a double heal in lane? Theyre gonna think you just B'd and came back.

Her W is one of my favorite abilities in the game now. lvl 1 it heals for 120 with a 3~ cd. If you position right your ADC can always win lvl 1 trades, lvl 2 trades too if you both kite properly.

Landing an E snare with new soraka might be as hard as landing old heims stun, but thats a lot more fun than a point and click silence. Or being a battery.

Her Ult is crazy strong, no one expects the amount of health they get from it. Then you get those guys who think taking ignite on their support will stop soraka. Her ult cleanses that silly grievous wound! It's so easy to bait with her ult.

While i can understand why people have the opinion that shes boring and not very interactive. I think Sorakas rework might be one of the best reworks ever done yet.

Well stated. Agree. And upvoted.

Although I sometomes miss the old kit, I'm ok with the new Soraka. She's fun to play, has a high skill cap and can carry if played correctly. She can literally keep her whole team alive, whereas old Soraka couldn't. The only problem is that her damage is non-existent except if you rank Q first (pls no.) and build alot of AP.

Solidair34/22/2015, 7:04:42 PM2 votes

New Soraka is a lot more fun, and when you make plays with an AoE silence, it feels really good!

Old Soraka was really boring and lacked counterplay in solo lanes. I'd rather forget she exists.

clarity + hp5 runes + warmog

Oh ! it's you old soraka again <3 . Only difference is that he silence is an aoe and the starcall is a tad smaller but can be targeted away from her.

The banana skin is cool, but I already have Celestine Soraka, and I think that's fantastic, so not getting it.

All in all, I still play her sometimes. I build more or less full AP, for the best healing. Movement speed is also very important to have the positioning you need as Soraka. You need to be at a safe distance, but close enough to heal when you need to, and in range of Starcall, and to drop Equinox at just the right time. It's a delicate balance. I do run flat HP/5 Quints, which do wonders for your health sustain. It's just so satisfying to interrupt an enemy jumping on your ADC with Equinox, burst heal with Wish, and then heal up to full HP in just a few seconds with a few Infusions. Her healing is just insane, and with AP, you don't have to burn as much of your own health to do it either. If you want to be safer, GA and SV, and the rest as full AP.

And its fun because a lot of people underestimate her, or do not understand her matchups. I FIRST PICKED Soraka (I was in a "FK IT!" mood), and the enemy counterpicked with Katarina. And I'm like... do you not understand that combo casters get wrecked by Equinox? It's such a safe zone for your team. Learning how to use that properly will make or break your experience as Soraka.

Anyway, as for hitting Starcalls in lane. Try varying how you are using it. Also weave in Autoattacks. They will be looking for the Starcall, and will let you get in range for a banana, or they will let you zone them away from creeps. When they adjust to that, then you hit them with a Starcall. It's all in the mindgames.

I miss jungle ambulance soraka.

Soraka AWAAAAY

I actually stopped maining Nami in favor of her shortly after her rework. My problem with old raka is that she wasn't a great healer, even though that was her identity. And the old starcall was fun for off-meta, but largely useless for support. Now, her healing is INSANE if you build ap and get awesome with those starcalls. But, I also liked old Karma better. New Karma is a better champion overall... but I liked the old one better. To each their own.

Mariah Carey4/22/2015, 8:15:32 PM1 votes

People, healing yourself for a piss-poor amount through a skillshot is not the same as healing yourself via W.

Vincent Lucius4/22/2015, 4:37:01 PM1 votes

I feel for you guys. Personally I love Soraka as she is now, but I never knew the old one, either, so I guess I can only go off of videos I've seen of her. I think she's pretty strong, she can heal herself as long as you can land star call, which doubles as great delayed skill shot practice, and I have a field day with assassins, especially Katarina. Nothing like her stopping by for a triple and getting a silence instead. Followed by death. And as for Talon I just keep a pink handy for when he disappears, same as any other invisible creep.

I know I'd probably hate it if any of my favorite champs got reworked drastically, but please give the current banana goat a chance. Hell, even (what used to be) her lore fits the damage while healing. Just think of this as fallen Soraka. She was just too bad ass and whooped one too many Warwicks and so she couldn't be her old godly self. It's Riot showing mercy to those fools who deny the power of the banana.
