Amumu used to be my goto AP jungler. Then 7.7 came and he was awesome! Then 7.8 came and nerfed his W by 33%! He feels weak now. He doesn't melt anything. I just don't understand you, Riot. It seems like you were trying to show him some love in 7.7. Then you realized he was a bit too strong. So then in 7.8 you made him weaker than he was in 7.6. You did the opposite of help.
hotarse2 votesRiot has figured out if they buff underappreciated champs and break them, they can then nerf them to be less powerful than they were before the buff. The original intention was to nerf, but doing it this way means less backlash.

I agree to a point. He was insanely strong in 7.7 and in need of nerfs, but they overshot in my opinion. They need to give him about half his 7.7 power back, because as he stands right now his clear speed is almost trash, and until he gets an AP item after his tank items, his damage is pretty ignorable. His ganks feel bad, people will just stand right next to you and not even care you're there. His team fights actually feel worse, not better. With all the AD on the rift right now, you'll rarely get a team that makes his passive worth the nerfs to his W.
He doesn't need to be doing as well as he was in 7.7, but I agree with you that he feels worse... much worse... than he did in 7.6. He's my favorite champ and I don't even want to play him because he just feels worthless.

Rewt1 votesAmumu has a simple kit. It means that While he isnt capable of flashy outplays it does mean that It lacks counterplay. No one likes getting killed by something and when they look back they say "Yep.... there was actually nothing that I could have done there. He just kind of walked at me and i died"
The nerf was to weaken his "imma walk at you and you gonna die" but his passive still remains making him a very strong champion. The changes were meant to focus more on Amumus strengths as a tanky supportive Jungler. The nerf to the W were to stop him from literally raping people like he was after the change. To say he was a little strong is a huge understatement. If the enemy team had a strong hyper carry mage like viktor he would literally murder your entire team with his passive while also doing great damage of his own.

meanwhile, his passive was buffed at all stages of the game, including the late game and especially against tanks which is what he uses his W for anyways.
