Actually, blue Ezreal have a lower damage output than Trinity-Ez or standard ADC Ez.
For comparison, 6 item Ezreal will hit:
Blue Ezreal: 1281 damage per second (against 2,5k health target, counting in: 75% muramana at AA and Q, avg. botrk procs at AA and Q, Qs every 1,4s and Iceborn proc every 2 seconds - so a pretty much perfect scenario)
Trinity Ezreal: Average 1389 damage per second (against 2,5k health target, counting in: Trinity Force proc every 2 seconds, avg. botrk procs at AA and Q, Q every 2,8s)
Standard ADC Ezreal: Average 1313 damage per second (Q every 2,8s)
And with Passive at max stacks, the damage changes to:
Blue Ezreal: 1461 damage per second
Trinity Ezreal: Average 1602 damage per second
Standard ADC Ezreal: Average 1555 damage per second
Now, it's important to remember that the DPS will fluctate quite heavily on Blue and Trinity Ezreal builds due to botrk, while standard ADC remains the same (making it more effective against targets with less than 2,5k max health and less effective against targets with more). It's imporant to note that even at Max mana, the muramana build doesn't outdamage Trinity Ezreal nor the Standard ADC one.
As for single spell damage it goes roughly like this:
Blue Ezreal:
Q - 864 (with muramana 75%, avg. botrk and Iceborn)
W - 274
E - 413 (with muramana 75%, because as far as I know it should proc it)
R - 935
Trinity Ezreal:
Q - 868 (with avg. botrk and TF)
W - 274
E - 298
R - 975
Standard ADC Ezreal:
Q - 583
W - 250
E - 275
R - 974
Anyway, I am not saying that Blue Ezreal is useless, but he's certainly not the highest damaging one (especially since his damage starts falling down the longer the fight is and it's actually hard to stay at 75% mana on average. Usually I see Ezreal running around 50% or even less, especially after some poking).
Also, it's very important to remember that Blue Ezreal have power spikes in his damage while Trinity and Standard ADCs have much smoother power curve (this results in Blue Ezreal usually dealing significantly less damage at some portions of the game and a bit more on others, based on stacking his Muramana, Botrk and Iceborn).
However, blue Ezreal have his share of good sides as well:
- Significantly lower CD on E makes him soooo much safer, as well as the slow from Iceborn Gauntlet
- More Rs due to higher CDR and more Qs
- Higher initial burst damage
So, to summarize - you should build Blue Ezreal when:
-
Your team have a better disengage than enemy engage (so, if enemy have poor engage - your team have enough disengage with your E alone. However if enemy team have heavy divers then you sure as hell should have some Janna or Gragas in your team).
-
Your team isn't an all-in team comp. This is by far the biggest mistake I see on blue Ezreals, and also the reason why so many players hate them. If you have 4 all-in champions and you build blue Ezreal - it won't work. Blue Ezreal needs some time to poke, draining enemy health or mana - however, if all the other team members are incapable of poking it is much better to go all-in - in which blue Ezreal have lower damage output than other Ezreal builds.
-
You are doing well in lane. This is important too. Blue Ezreal have a build-up time early on where he isn't really strong (starting stacking tear). This also is often the time that Dragon fights start. So if you went 0/1 in lane and have 20 CS less than your lane opponent and you still went Tear as your first item... Chances are you are on your best way to lose the game for your team. If you are behind - either delay the Manamune or skip it entirely.
