NOW THAT HECARIM DEALT FULL DAMAGE TO MONSTER
CAN WE DO THE SAME WITH GAREN?
CAN WE DO THE SAME WITH GAREN?
Or... Rumble?
What are they afraid of? Rumble in the Jungle?
It's already a skin they might as well do it.
I'm pretty sure Riot would not be afraid of a Rumble in the jungle.
It definitely makes a lot of sense for Rumble to be able to deal full damage on monsters with his Q, and would help bump up the number of viable AP junglers, which is significant because there are not a lot of AP junglers that are viable right now.
They're worried about the increased wave clear making him oppressive in lane, no doubt.
"Deals reduced damage to minions" Is all it'd have to say, instead of "Deals reduced damage to minions and monsters".
Don't quote me on this but I don't think they like giving specific abilities distinctions between lane minions and neutral minions, for game clarity reasons.
Isn't that how hecarim was tho? Isn't it in the title of the post? Isn't this kinda annoying?
Yes they do. Minions are minions, golems, buffs, baron, drake and the others are monsters.
They actually have given abilities distinctions between lane minions and neutral monsters.
Garen's Judgement and Hecarim's Rampage are two abilities that deal reduced damage to lane minions but full damage on neutral monsters.
Likewise, Garen's passive does not get broken by lane minions, but does get broken by neutral monsters until level 11.
Shyvanna's Burnout deals bonus damage to neutral monsters but not to lane minions.
Nunu gets consume bonuses on neutral monsters but not from lane minions.
In other words, there are quite a few abilities that have slightly different effects between hitting neutral monsters and lane minions.
Rumble in the jungle actually works xD ive tried it
i think it would make rumble too strong, since i play a lot of rumble jungle i understand why there is a cap
I don't know if you do it like me, but I also use Rumble in the jungle sometimes but my strategy is usually just to pretend I'm Shaco and just gank gank gank gank gank after my first clear because of how slow it goes. I honestly don't think removing his cap on monsters would make him overpowered in the jungle, it'd probably just put him in line with a lot of other jungler champions.
good words
I think "unlocking" Garen jungle should be ok
But Rumble could be broken I think. Rumble Q has insane AoE damage over time. Ganks would be better than a Garen's would
It wouldn't be any more broken than Shyvana. Until Rumble buys a good chunk of AP, Shyvana's W does more damage than Rumble's flamespitter (This is even if Rumble didn't have the monster cap) and it scales with bonus AD, meaning she can buy ad items for her auto's and still increase its damage, AND she gets a 20% damage increase to monsters. Rumble also doesn't usually buy a lot of high AP items aside from Hourglass and and will be much squishier than Shyvana.
Saintvicious has already been breaking out jungle Garen in the past couple patches (He is apparently amazing with Cinderhulk and the new BC) in some of his streams. at first he was like "screw it I'll jungle Garen" but after the first time (or the first one I saw) he apparently thinks it's actually a semi-legitimate if somewhat niche pick.
Only if you also increase its mana cost by...wait...
Garen doesn't jungle as well though, and the mana cost was a nerf to lane Hecarim w/ the jungle monster dmg being increased so mana wasn't as big a nerf to jungle pony as it was to lane pony. Since jungle Garen isn't nearly as strong compared to lane Garen as the same comparison between Hecarim, jungle Garen would be fine w/out having any nerfs to compensate for this buff.
Exactly: On Hecarim, the change was roughly power-neutral. On Garen, the change would be strictly power-positive.
Yeah it would definitely be a straight buff, I just don't know that jungle garen is strong enough that buffing him would be a balance issue.
NO. GAREN JUNGLE IS ALREADY A THING! NO NEED TO BUFF IT!
NO. GAREN JUNGLE IS ALREADY A THING! NO NEED TO BUFF IT!
I played with it. i played against it.i saw it on streams. Makes it a thing in my book.
Also i dont want jungle garen to be viable because it would be an udyr type jungler and theyre unhealthy to the jungle role imo.:
Bad ganks, good farming, decent counterjungle ability. This makes for a jungler that either snowballs hard and destroys or is useless until minute 30 and has no impact
Garen already deals full damage to monsters with his Judgement.
In patch 3.15, he was changed so that Judgement deals full damage to monsters, instead of dealing reduced damage to monsters.
That said, I've been trying jungle Garen a little bit myself, and I can't really say it is too great. His first clear is just aweful, as you need to back after 3 camps and struggles to clear all three, but after that his clears are not that bad.
The main reason you play jungle Garen, however, is the ability to combine the 25% health from Cinderhulk with the 20% bonus resistances from Courage's passive component, which gives Garen enough tankiness to be able to afford a damage item while still being as tanky as tanks who build, well, full tank. Make your damage item Black Cleaver, build full tank, and suddenly you deal respectable damage while still being the tankiest champion on the map.
And of course for those snowball games where you get ahead, IE is always the best option on Garen, especially since he gets so tanky without having to build pure tank.
Problem with IE on jungle Garen is that he can't really snowball games out of the jungle.
His early game ganks are really bad by virtue of having no hard CC, whether it is slows or stuns, outside of Stalker's Blade of course. He also doesn't have good sustain in the early game, so he won't get to gank too often in the early game either.
And even if you do get ahead, Infinity Edge is still too expensive for a jungler to get unless you get even more ridiculously far ahead that it doesn't even matter what you buy.
Even then, Black Cleaver is by far the best option on jungle Garen because of its combination of damage, cooldown reduction, and health (which synergizes with Cinderhulk!), and therefore IE doesn't really have a place on jungle Garen builds, even when he gets ahead.
He already does...
They should try slowly pealing back some of the restrictions they put on all champions who were too strong in the old Jungle. Maybe not remove entirely like Hecarim, but it's pretty clear some of them don't need their nerfs anymore...
Honestly I'm all for seeing more champs get played as truly viable picks, but I don't want to see more garen than I already do. He's so boring to play as/against that I don't think he does anything to make the game better for anyone over level 25.
sure when they nerf his silence to compensate
His silence is far, far, far from oppressive.
garen silence not oppressive ok as he qe's you for 3/5 of your health and you can't do shit about it
It remindes me of someone.... oh:
. Not necesarely qe but a combo is devastating even pre 6(xerath is fucking anoying and cassiopeia twin fangs the shit out of you
No plz don't, in fact why not nerf the silence duration?
Chogath has an aoe silence and no one complains... and his ult is much stronger than garen's. And an Aoe knockup( yasuo cho ftw)
Chogath has an aoe silence and no one complains... and his ult is much stronger than garen's. And an Aoe knockup( yasuo cho ftw)
and don't forget instantly kills non-tanks by himself very quickly where as all of Garen's damage is spread out over time and 1 Q+E isn't really enough to bring someone low enough to R all by himself without building a lot of damage.
this would make garen overpowered in bot lane.
E already does. They made that change awhile ago.
They could also let Renekton gain more fury from monsters, might make using him in the jungle more viable.
Renekton jungle already works quite well, and has good clear with decent ganks if he lands Slice on either champs or minions. (Cinderhulk and Black Cleaver are your friends, with full tank itemization otherwise.)
To pull it off, what you want to do is start W, and do Krugs as your first camp regardless of which side you're on. (If you can't get a leash, that's okay, because Renekton has amazing synergy with the Heavy Hands smite buff, as explained below.) After Krugs, clear Raptors before doing your red buff, as this will give your smite time to recharge, allowing you to smite the buff for health back while still utilizing the Heavy Hands buff to clear it.
After this, you should have plenty of health to gank mid (tell your mid laner not to push prior to this) and hopefully force a flash, or, if you're really lucky, pick up first blood for your team and snowball your mid lane.
** Starting Krugs, And Why You Should**
As Renekton jungle, starting Krugs regardless of your team's side is the best option, because he can clear the camp better than anyone else in the game, due to his kit's affinity with the Heavy Hands buff offered by smiting the larger of the two-monster camp.
(Simply put, Renekton's W allows him to use the stun debuff on monsters far more creatively and usefully than any other jungler, and here's HOW.)
By smiting the Big Krug as it spawns, you will immediately gain the Heavy Hands buff, and you can autoattack the big one to stun it and prevent some early damage. After stunning it, you'll want to autoattack once more (while it's stunned), then use your W to restun it. This will advance you to three stacks on Heavy Hands, and negate a lot of damage that other junglers take from the camp due to not having this option.
At this point, if you had a halfway-decent leash, the Big Krug will be rather low, and it might be tempting to just finish it off (and that's perfectly fine, go right ahead. ^.^) HOWEVER, make sure to proc the Heavy Hands stun on the Small Krug this time, as using it the low health BIg Krug is a waste, since it will be dead shortly.
