The Hate Against Caitlyn is Disgusting and undeserved.

As a Caitlyn main, I find that the hatred and calling for a nerf on Caitlyn unjustified.

Her W. Dodge. Just dodge. Literally, that's all you need to do. Don't go in bushes, and just dodge. I will concede, however that more than 4 traps is a little excessive.

Her E. Most likely, she's running away. What Caitlyn is going to fight when she's at low health? I can see that getting a free headshot with it is a little excessive, though.

The only things I see in need of fixing are maybe reduce the max number of traps Caitlyn can lay to 4 and removing the free headshot after she uses her E, but other than that, I really don't see any major issues that would be in dire need of a nerf.

The hate is pretty deserved. If you're laning vs a Cait, you're guaranteed to lose lane. Her range and ability to stop engages with her E is enough to guarantee a safe laning phase for her. If she gets a lead though, she can zone with her traps and win even harder.

The issue mostly is that she has so many tools along with her high attack range, and she can 100% win lane.

I would tend to agree. Aside from the traps, she is strong but not completely out of whack, that's how every champion should feel in my opinion. The traps can be pretty obnoxious and some sort of change makes sense like lower the number of traps, or add a duration, or maybe make them target-able after some condition like time elapsed, something to tone them down a bit.

It should be applauded and is entirely deserved.

W: "Just dodge" is a horrible argument that suggests that someone like Syndra is balanced. Not only that, but she can place 5 in front of either allied or enemy towers to prevent them from sieging or defending a siege. There's no counterplay to this. On top of that, using an item/ability like Zhonya's is a death sentence vs Cait. If you get CC'd at all near her, you're dead and don't get to participate in a fight, even if you aren't the one being focused.

E: She's not going to use it to run away, she's going to use it to kite or combo. It shouldn't be a damage tool at all.

However, the main thing about Cait that's disgusting right now is how her passive, Runaan's, IE, and Warlord's all interact together.


Traps should be limited to 3, should not provide headshots, and neither should E. Her passive is already overloaded. No reason they need to make her entire kit apply it as well when she's getting it every other auto with Runaan's anyway. It was a stupid gimmick to add with the ADC update.

As she currently stands, she has no trade-offs.

One thing I really hate about Caitlyn is how she can lay down a line of traps in front of your turret (and good luck dodging those). When laning against her you have two choices: a.) just try to farm passively under the turret or b.) try to cross the line she made 5 inches in front of it and get nuked from half a screen away. No other champion has an ability to force an extremely boring, passive playstyle this much - and mind you, champions have been nerfed/reworked for enforcing passive gameplay far less than Cait does.

Better Fix: Make the Activation timer for each trap last 1.5 seconds, instead of 1.1, making such stupid power plays as Leona/Cait, Blitz/Cait, Alistar/Cait less common and actually require some modicum of skill.

Her range is 650, and Trap/Net headshot range is double that, a whopping 1300. Shave off 200 max range from the empowered headshot, and ensure that to achieve MAXIMUM OVERDAMAGE, she's gotta be closer than her turret.

Also, make the %Damage from her Headshots scale. Instead of a flat 50%+Crit bonus+Crit Chance, Start at 25, then at six, go to 35, then at 11, go to 45 and once you hit 18, give her the full 50-55%.

O.o the trap number is fine, the scaling damage on it though is pretty crazy

Also, the headshot on the net doesn't have a base extra damage, it's the plain headshot from your passive, while traps have that crazy 190 + 70% TOTAL AD attached onto them

The only thing that needs to change is how the traps function, outside of that she is probably fine. She either needs less of them or they should have far less duration, especially if placed near enemy turrets. For the crazy damage they allow her to do, there should be a reasonable way around them.

This is like when GP was overpowered. He scaled stupidly with crit items but he could hit his late game power spike at 25-30 minutes and be a couple levels ahead of everyone else in the game. Riot decided to gimp his early game by increasing cd on ult, lowering base health, and increasing mana cost on W. Cait scales ridiculously into the late game, essentially two shotting most squishies while being miles away. Frankly, nerfing her late game a tad, or just making it harder to get to that point would be very deserved.

oh you're a cait main, yeah you're totally unbiased. She is oppressive and unhealthy right now. The whole fucking lane being zoned by traps gives her little to no disadvantage and makes any sort of creative response limited.She already has a long range skill shot and one of the highest base ranges in the game but yeah you also need massive zoning potential. Shut up about her E as well like caits arent using this as a primarily offensive tool in to proc headhshots in lane gtfo of here. If anything is disgusting it's your fanboyism.
