So, uh... how do I fight new Akali?

Hard countered her before the rework - absolutely destroys her after rework.

Her w can root Akali even in her shroud

Akali has a lot of counters, considering she's easier to poke and can only access her sustain early when her energy is nearly full.

Zilean and Malzahar immediately come to mind. Zilean's bombs make it extremely difficult for Akali to farm, and his ult of course makes it hard for her to secure a kill. Malzahar's Malefic Visions can spread to Akali even in shroud.

According to champion.gg Ahri and Aurelion Sol are also good against her. I'd imagine Ahri is just good at poking and escaping and A-Sol can just clear out minions and then force her away when she dives him with his ult.

Lissandra is a great anti-assassin as usual. A friend of mine said Riven is a good counter, but I honestly can't verify that one as I don't have first-hand experience and it is possible the akali was just BAD.

I'm guessing an anti-burst champion like Irelia would also be effective, but I'm certainly no Irelia main.

I've personally also done well with Syndra, but I basically main her, so not really sure if my experience vs their inexperience comes into play, but Syndra's range and burst are fairly good at dealing with her.

I have an ok time against her with Poppy. I assume tanks fare well against her in general, but Poppy's W really defangs many of her long-range capabilities.

Personally I found super good into her but that might be skewed by his buffs this patch. Another pick that I had success with was as your dot constant makes her flicker in stealth can makes it extremely difficult for her to dive the backline in fights.

Anything tanky, Juggernauts and bruisers.

Anything tanky early. She can pretty much do nothing against garen early, even mid. If you q her, she doesn't have the time to stealth. If she stealths before you get the q off, just walk away. Your q will be back before her stealth. So you pretty much out trade her super hard and have kill pressure after 6 assuming you don't get smoked by her ult.

Mages are ironically quite good into her. Specifically AoE/skillshot ones. Zoe and Syndra are able to deny her shuriken dash mechanic by their cc, brand would too (linear skillshots) Veigar’s cage would be very useful too I’d imagine. Vlad naturally would counter her being a tanky mage who does a lot of AoE.

dodge E as a Lucian main I never had problems against her, the only issue I had with her was her ult when i'm low hp due to other source of damage from her team.

Ahri SHITS on akali really really hard, its really quite depressing how strong she is against Akali.

Same way you counter any fighter or assassin without playing one yourself. Build a little early HP (or MR if she rushes pen) to make her unable to snowball off of you. Shove the lane (if your champ can reliably do that early without running oom), ward up, and communicate with your team to make her unable to snowball off of roams. If she just sits and waveclears herself, you win because you don’t need to snowball to be effective, unlike her.

Most champions in the game shit on her actually.

She has the lowest base stats in the game. So people that have AOE and bully potential are significant powers. More than 20+ champions can beat her in-lane, try stabbing in the dark at who 'might' counter her, I'm sure you can do it.
