Solo queue resets are terribly designed and should be changed.

read until the end or don't read at all Seriously riot, I absolutely hate ranked because it tries to judge you overall skill at the game purely by win or loss. Yea, it can even out over a lot of games and yea, I am salty right now because I just went 16/0/3 on jungle nidalee and lost. That doesn't mean the system works at all just because it starts to resemble your skill after 200+ games. After the game I just "lost" our 0/10/4 thresh support had the nerve to say we lost because I "didn't get a single baron or dragon." That meaning that I wouldn't help them in a 2v4 at dragon and they both died and every lane was feeding so every objective had to be conceded to the other team. He was passive aggressive towards everyone on the team constantly throughout the whole game and went in when our team was at a huge disadvantage multiple times. By passive aggressive i mean saying stuff like "I didn't know pinging meant the opposite haha" and a bunch of other bullshit passive aggressive solo queue phrases like that. I'm getting off topic, but I purely play ranked to climb to gold 5 for end of reason rewards and every season I get matched with SO MANY huge ego douche bag players that want to think that the people carrying them are the ones that threw because of some stupid shit, i'm not saying a played near perfectly, but I played pretty damn well and it's still considered a "loss" by riot. I'm tired of going through this every season and if end of season rewards weren't a thing a guarantee you I wouldn't be doing this shit. That leads us to the question, WHY CAN THE SYSTEM NOT PLACE US HIGHER? I have already proved that I can play very consistently well on a gold+ level so why do I have to prove it again and again every season? "Oh, but what if someone was OTPing an OP champion?" Then that's completely riot's fault that they can't balance the game. "Oh, but what if someone got boosted?" Then they can just get boosted against if they really wanted to, also someone riot's fault that they are not doing anything about the openly available boosting services available. You can literally type "lol boost" into any search engine out that and get a ridiculous amount of results that riot refuses to do anything about. They obviously don't care that much about people boosting in the first place. READ THIS: As a final note, I know that a good player will eventually climb to the rank that they deserve, I just think that it shouldn't take nearly as much time as it does just to prove something that you have already proved last season. Something like 1 or maybe 2 divisions below where you were would be A LOT more helpful that climbing back up unlike the typically 4+ divisions it throws you down currently.

There is no real solo que atm but good rant.

BTW: Being a OTB has nothing to do with a champion being OP.

What do you mean there is no real solo queue? Just because we can choose two positions now doesn't make it that much different from solo queue. Also, it seems like you're confusing OTP (one trick pony) with something else because playing only an OP champion is an easy way to climb when the scenario presents itself.

Technically, since everyone doesn't only play as solo, it isn't true solo queue but a mix of premades and solos.

Yes, it makes it very different and the new champion select has nothing to do with it. Just because you can que by yourself doesn't make it a solo que ladder. It's all Dynamic Que regardless. If a guy only plays with 4 other friends, he can get the same ranking as you despite being in a totally different environment from a solo que player. That's why people don't respect dynamic que as a measure of individual skill. You don't know how someone got their dynamic que ladder (solo, duo, 2 friends, trio, etc.) so it loses consistency and predictive value.

A pure solo que ladder will be released in the next few weeks. I'd guess March but I hope sooner.

Ok, I see what you mean. I didn't really think about that because most of my friend vary a lot in terms of rankings so we can't actually queue together in ranked anymore. Still, the chances of getting matched with a 3+ man queue aren't THAT high and it's still almost the same as just a 2 man queue with one person carrying the other.

It's not about whether you'll face imbalanced premades. It's about the lack of clarity in what it represents. See the link.

Sorry for the late reply, but rank represents whether you win or lose most games. That is ALWAYS what your rank has represented. It doesn't matter if you go 0/10 every game on tryndamere but you push and win the majority of your games. All the system cares about is whether you win or lose which is flawed by itself. League is the kind of game where having bad teammates can negatively affect how well you perform even if you are better than the players on the other team. Almost every other competitive game in existence does not have this aspect to the game in the same extent league does. FPS games are a great example, even if your team can give the enemy kills, you always have the opportunity to do well. Sure, there are things like killstreaks, but it is MUCH easier to shut down players because they basically lose most of their bonuses on death. In league, when your bot lane feeds 10+ kills, the enemy is already strong and no amount of outplaying or shutting them down will ever make them weak again. This makes it MUCH easier to carry FPS games single handed, whereas with league, one bad teammate can easily determine the outcome of the game by himself. This would be fine, except for the fact that your rank is determined purely by win or loss, not directly connected to how well you play at all until a huge amount of games have been played. That is my problem with the system and there is not an easy way to fix it while still maintaining league as a team game.

Remember your team is averagely as good as the enemy team (bad wording sry)

Also, from my experience in bronze, most laners just feed one or 2 kills, or get one or 2 kills and the person losing just hugs tower (things might have changed idk)

It's not flawed at all. Your performance matters to the outcome and Riot isn't going to micromanage how you go about it. That would be incredibly stupid. There is no sport where anything other than the outcome is what's used to decide your ranking. You're not going to win every game even if you're Challenger vs Gold players but over a good sample, your performance will reflect your in-game skill for a solo queue ladder.

Sometimes I wonder why you guys competitively play a game that doesn't have a 1v1 or a FFA mode.

I dunno, just from what I've heard of it it seems like Blade and Soul would be a far better fit.

If it was Solo Queue, it is no different from 1vs1 over enough games. There is higher variance but you still get the same result since the random players on each team kind of even out and you would be the only constant. It's kind of like poker. Sometimes you get a great hand and other time a shit hand or team but whether you win or not over hundreds of thousands of hands is more down to your decisions than external factors like luck. In the long run, external factors in a solo que also make no difference to your final ranking.

That sounds like individual willpower more than skill, honestly.

I literally don't understand anything about your comment.

Grinding has always been about having enough willpower to slog through an excessive amount of stuff to reach a goal before you just get sick of what you're doing.

You can grind a million games if you want, that doesn't mean you'll now be Challenger. Playing at least 100 games is necessary for a somewhat accurate ranking but it doesn't in itself make you good. Literally any performance activity will require you to demonstrate your skill over an extended length of time and that's the way it should be. If it was just, "oh hey, I won 4 games and now I'm Challenger" that would be incredibly stupid and meaningless.

What do you expect? It's a ladder, just like for tennis. You can't climb a ladder without playing. It's not like Federer just woke up one day and said "ok, I won my last 10 matches, I should now be instantly catapulted to #1" Even if you may have the skills, you have to play enough to prove that and until you have, no one can believe you.

I was placed from silver 2 to silver 5 after winning 8 games and I got to silver 3 with winning like 80% of my games. BTW you only had 3 assits on nidalee, when you should be getting much more assits rather than kills as a jungler.

Ethereal Mist1 votes

Not what happens when your laner walks up and dies 90% of the time when you gank. On top of that, why would I give kills to bad players? If I know that they can't play the game, I should try to take my team on my shoulders instead of wasting gold on players that won't make use of it. I climbed from silver 2 to gold 5 in the matter of like 15 or so games because I got fairly lucky. The point is that solo queue shouldn't be about just getting lucky streaks of good teammates as much as it should be your individual skill. Yea, the game I mentioned was just an EXTREME case, but it's annoying how often you win or lose because of one or two bad players on a certain team.
