If Kog is going to be successful his sustained damage needs to actually be sustained.

When Kog's W is up, his DPS is comparable to Twitch or Vayne with their Ults active.

When Kog's W is down, due to being forced to build OnHit effects to have an impact on the game, he has the worst DPS of any ADC.

Due to the duration of his W, Kog is strongest in small skirmishes, but weak to both disengage and extended fights. Given that Meddler has explicitly stated that Kog's niche is supposed to be sustained damage, it makes absolutely no sense that Kog can't actually sustain his damage.

There are two ways to tweak Kog's W to preserve its weakness to disengage while at the same time allowing Kog to sustain his damage through long team fights.

  1. Make W refresh on takedowns.

OR

  1. Make W extend its duration each time Kog attacks an enemy champion.

With the ability to keep his W up for a whole team fight (provided he plays well) Kog would actually be able to fill his sustained damage niche in a fashion that feels compelling. Because let's be honest. If I wanted to pick a champion with a really strong burst of damage followed by lower damage there Graves are Lucian lots MissFortune of Corki compelling Quinn choices Twitch.

Kayle is an insult to KogMaw

And Riot specifically set up Kog's W cooldown so that it is impossible to reduce it to zero.

Why, Riot?

Why?

they want a "window of power" it's the same reason that Ryze's passive only refreshes CD when he's cast four spells, so there's a time of weakness to be exploited. why that philosophy seems to only be applied selectively, i dunno

There is a window of power already.

You bait Kog's W and then back off.

It just baffles me to no end that a super-niche champion has to be gimped like this while Jinx, Vayne, and Kayle never have to worry about their steroids being down.

tbh saying that the niche of an adc is "sustained damage" is already a bit ... ludicrous.

Every adc have sustained damage... that's the whole point of right click crit + attack speed + life steal.

Obv, some adc are different 'cause they got insane burst that should not be there in the first place because of the crit + life steal.

smh

I'm just quoting Meddler here.

When I was asking about Kog a while back, he said that Kog's thing is supposed to be long ranged high sustained damage. Problem is, Kog is short ranged shitty damage more often than he's long range high damage. Aside from Sivir, Kog is the only Marksmen who has his niche totally gated by cooldowns. And Sivir's thing is massive team initiation, so that isn't as big of a deal with her.

Everyone else, though? Their cooldowns support their niche. They make it stronger, better deffined. Kog's W is his only ability that's really linked to his niche and when it does down he's nothing but dead weight.
