Since Marksman are getting a full pass like Juggernauts

That means their items are being looked at as well right? I'm hoping this means we can finally get rid of RNG critical hits and replace them with the myriad other ways that auto-attacks can be enhanced and critical hits can trigger:

  • After spell proc (sheen)
  • Conditional (Pantheon, Zed, J4)
  • On spell use (Fiora, Shaco)
  • After X hits (Caitlyn Headshot, Yi double-strike)
  • Charges (shiv)
  • Exploiting weakness (Talon, Ashe)

Critcals completely tied to gameplay and divorced from dice.

Some of you might say that some of the examples listed might not be crits, sure, but they serve the same function of enhancing your autoattack damage output.

They won't remove it. It is tied to far into too many character's kits

Removing crits would be really good for ADCs, Riot would be forced to diversify the ADCs kit a lot more, to make up for the loss power, and maybe Jinx will finally stop being better than all the immobile ADCs.

Criticals are weird.

Riot has already very explicitly said they like the position that Crit is in, and that it isnt nearly as RNG as people think.

Finally someone with a bit of knowledge about this game.

I agree with you but the only thing I want to see when it comes to ADC itemization change is the lower price of a item 1038 .

Seriously, bot lane is a duo lane where ADC and Support depend on each other and as an ADC you can't always count on a 1550 gold after 1st recall.

Even a slightest mistake of you or your support can lead to you having item 1037 and enemy ADC having a item 1038 and in that situation, trading is literally impossible and that can result in loosing a lane.

Proper price for a item 1038 should be at least 1250 or 1300.

They won't remove it. That would take a lot of time that I doubt Riot wanted to solicit into the rework.

I sure hope that Marksmen don't get a "Juggernaut" treatment.

You can only ban so many champs.

DrCyanide9/21/2015, 9:40:50 PM1 votes

The core problem is that they need to make Marksmen care about different things for their damage. The attack speed + attack damage + crit combination has been way overused, to the point where there's only maybe 3 or 4 champions that don't rely on it (Ezreal, Corki, Vayne, maybe Twitch).

I honestly like the RNG of critical hits. A good crit can turn a bot lane matchup around for a losing team. What I DON'T like is that there are so many items that give increased critical strike chance. I'd prefer if critical hits were just a randomized thing that happened for anybody in any role at the same rate, with some exceptions like Tryndamere and Yasuo.

Crits are a poor mechanic, not a big deal, they could distinguish and diversify champion behaviors a lot by reworking auto attacks as a whole, Crits alone aren't a significant enough problem.

Regardless of whether or not Riot changes how Crit works, doing a pass on ADC itemization is really important.

Right now IAS/Crit items and Lifesteal items provide a pretty good range of options (Reaver needs a ton of work, though. Make it the AD Caster lifesteal item of choice). But what is needed the MOST is a set of Augmented Critical items akin to Infinity Edge that cater to other Ranger architypes aside from the basic right-clicker. We need an AD caster focused item, a hybrid item, and an OnHit item that could fill the same slot.
