Wonderful job conveying the new lore through gameplay

I can completely understand Xerath's desire and how Shurima crumbled.

Nothing even matters anymore. This game is now all about how often I can reach ascension as AP Ezreal and then 1v5 the enemy team. I will fight 1v9 for ascension if I have to. In order to secure godhood I will trample over the still warm corpses of my teammates.

And then you have to consider the aspect of a single skillshot or a stealthed champ stealing your opportunity to earn that perfect ascension icon. That sense of betrayal, of total failure in the one thing you desired. I now know what Azir must have felt. All that I had hoped for, gone. We had a great team composition, we were 60 points ahead, I already had my 5 wins, I had but one goal that I desired before I could be satisfied and it was taken from me before my very eyes, not only ascension, perfect ascension.

I think OP is right in this case, the concept of "Ascension" was decided first in Lore and the mode was created to help players feel what that scenario would be like. I am glad you liked it! I will pass along your input to the guys on that team.

They're not conveying the lore through gameplay, nor are they conveying the gameplay through lore. The "lore" basis in the gameplay was more to fit the new gamemode which I myself like. A lot.
