Rek'Sai Opinion

So I have been playing a bunch of Rek'Sai and I have a couple opinions about her abilities that I would just like to put out there.

The first is how painfully useless the burrowed Q is. It is very hard to hit if you have no other vision, and even if you do hit it, the ability is very underwhelming. It has very low base damage and though the AP ratio is very high, I don't think it justifies an AP build for the champion. While I would love to see CC on the Q, it would completely break the champion, giving her way to much chase potential. I will have to think a bit about how I would change it, but it really is a VERY underwhelming ability.

The second comment I have regards her burrowed E (the Tunnels) and her ultimate. Now the idea is very cool. But in all the games I have played, I have found VERY few useful ultimate cases. If she is played top lane, it can be used after a tp gank to return to your lane quickly. In the jungle it can be used to cross from one half of the map to the other relatively quickly. We know this, but in practice, I never find myself needing to use it.

I realize this might be me trying to use the ability incorrectly, but it seems to me that any place where my ultimate would make a direct impact is a place where it is nearly impossible to keep a tunnel placed. Essentially the only tunnels that actually stay up are too far from contested areas to make use of.

For example (on blue side), I might have placed a tunnel going to the golems. But if bot lane gets into trouble and I ulti to that tunnel to assist, chances are enough damage has been done by the time I arrive that the BEST case scenario is I push the minion wave to turret. If i tried to place a tunnel any closer, chances are it would have been spotted out by a ward and destroyed before I got the chance to utilize it.

As a result, I have actually gone games without using my ultimate once, simply because there was no need (coming from jungle, in top lane I used it as a get back to lane fast tool, but is that really what an ultimate should be used for?).

To fix this, I would like to make the tunnels untargetable or stealthed. Stealthed makes more sense. I realize, however, that this would give Rek'Sai too much power, so I would suggest reducing the number of tunnels she has. This way, as long as the area isn't swept or there is a pink ward in the area, Rek'Sai could actually set traps for the opponents and utilize her ultimate for assisting her team, rather than just using it as an advanced home guard. Also, if the number of tunnels has fallen, arbitrarily to half what it currently is (so 8 down to 4), we could even talk about giving the tunnels small amounts of vision, etc, though I might be getting ahead of myself.

All said and done, however, this champion is a lot of fun and while strong, certainly has some serious hurdles she has to overcome.

Rek'sai needs no hurdles to overcome, and is almost op.

Her burrowed Q isn't useless. I think you should be happy that she even has an ability while burrowed. Her kit is overloaded like the rest of the champions released lately.

Rek sai has everything you want in a top champ, but not in this particular order.. built in sustain, wave clear, easy escape, mobilty true damage, excellent base damage built in tele back to lane, naturally tanky, no mana, no energy, knock up,

should i go on?

please do...

Mention the part where her Q burrowed is useless and after her .5s knock up the target shes after can run away and she gets no more than 2 autos off on that target, if shes lucky.

Think of her Q burrowed as an "extra bonus". its more for checking the bushes and what not, not really for doing mega damage. the rest of her kit is overloaded.

as forexchanging. go in, exhange some damage, back away, attack some minions, build up fury, burrow, heal, rinse, wash , repeat.

Her Q as is isn't even considered an extra ability late game it does base 180 damage and if you get tri / gauntlet you get an extra 30~dmg (BEFORE MITIGATION). If you add in defenses it does like 90 damage... mind you not you have to land it with out being able to see ur opponent(most the time)

It's not a killiing ability, its more for utility. Checking bushes so you dont have to face check, and it costs you nothing as in mana or energy wise. its hardly useless.

Ill give you everything on your list except naturally tanky. This is just false. There isn't a single defensive stat in her entire kit. There is no way for her to be naturally tanky. If you want to go with she heals a lot, only out of combat, not in it. If she has the ability to utilize her heal while you pound on her, this the problem isn't her sustain.

I also don't think an ultimate should pretty much only be used to get back into lane, which is pretty much all you're using it for. Which to me is silly.

I don't really think her kit is overloaded, though I can certainly see a few number changes, being on her damage or on the cool downs on some abilities. Her E might be a little too strong at later levels, and I would also understand a cool down nerf on her Q.

But none of that has to do with how useless and crappy the burrowed Q feels. If you took it out of the kit completely, I would say she functions more or less the same, in the jungle at least. Maybe top lane it is a little useful for poke, but I don't really see 180 magic damage (so after a base MR of 30, 137) ability doing a whole lot top lane.

naturally tanky might be "subjective", but you can't tell me that she is by any means a squishy champ. And i don't mean she heals alot, rek'sai undoubtedly soaks up alot of damage, before burrowing away risk free.

Her ultimate is made for jungle, but might get "wasted" in lane depending on how you look at it. Shens ult isnt wasted in top lane, he uses it to gank other lanes. Rek's ult in the right hands can gank other lanes, or it can just be used for free trip back to lane. Imagine you tele bot to gank, get some kills or assists, then ult back top.... Hardly wasted in my opinion...

The term "overloaded" is used to describe champs that have too many passives or benefits. Simply put, Rek'sai has too mamy options in her kit and is good at too many things, without being bad at a fair amount of things. Its not necessarily about numbers.

The burrowed Q isnt useless, i mentioned it should be used as a bush checker or could be used as a last effort finisher. but isnt a skill you should rely on steady kills with. Rmember, this skill costed you** 0 mana or energy**. hardly underpowered.

**tl;dr: The burrowed Q deserves to feel crappy because she is overloaded with so many options in her kit and costs you 0 mana **

Yes, she is a naturally squishy champ. There is nothing subjective about it. She doesn't have bonus armor or mres, no shield, and no way to mitigate damage. She is not a tanky champ. Again, she does have a rather large health pool, so I would understand a reduction in her base health, but that is numbers again.

Her ultimate in the jungle is still getting wasted. Thats my point. Unlike shen ulti, which be definition brings you exactly where you need to go, Rek'Sai can only go to places where her tunnels are. And any place where a team fight is going to be is going to have enough vision to make keeping tunnels there impossible. So she can't reinforce a team fight since her closest tunnel will be too far away.

I also wouldn't call her kit overloaded. Overloaded would mean she has options in every situation. She has melee ranged CC and is very weak against kiting. This makes her naturally bad at team fights. It also makes her near worthless in a siege. She has lots of options? False. She has almost no options. She has to close to melee range to do anything to enemies. In a fight with another champion, they have the ability to just walk away from her.

Her fury generation in a minion wave might be a little too good because of the way her Q interacts, but again I would argue a numbers change (reducing the fury gained from targets other than your primary target by some amount) would bring her fury passive in line, the kit itself isn't broken. This in turn would make her E harder to get the true damage on, something in the jungle and in solo fights without minions she was struggling to do as it was.

Being able to check bushes isn't really all that helpful, as chances are you'll have seen them with the passive on W anyway. And if they are doing the 5 man camp a brush strategy, your trouble sense should already be tingling.

According to you, she is already overloaded, so why does she need to have a ranged finisher? Replace it with something melee ranged but useful and further solidify her weaknesses.

No ability should ever feel crappy or useless to use. There is not really any justification for an ability that doesn't meaningfully impact the game.

Well although the video is off topic, Redmercy agrees she naturally tanky, so take that for what it is. You don't have to agree.

Her ult isn't wasted, just learn where to place your tunnels properly. It allows her to gank a lane, then immediately move across the map in seconds and gank another. It doesnt even have to be a gank, just moving to an endless number of high priority situations, drag, baron steal, your split pushing and you can use it to escape, etc... While shen can only tele onto a champ, different ults for different situations.

Still disagree on her overloaded kit. She doesnt need to have options for every last situation, Lee sin has overloaded kit, but isnt the best choice in EVERY situation. You're just being silly.. Also most melee champs need to get into melee range to do damage(Xin, fiora, etc.) Don't forget that Rek'sai's proper build includes item 3143 and she has her tunnel(dash) and a knock up, thats plenty to keep up with most champs.

I agree, she does build fury to easily.

Her passive doesn't show enemies not moving, and checking bushes is extremely helpful. Are we even playing the same game?

You miss the point again... Its not like its supposed to deal 1 billion damage. Its there for things like checking bushes( yes, extremely helpful) or farming from range or picking up that kill from that champ who got away with

Its not a bad idea at all. Although I will say that running move speed quints, boots of speed and alacrity enchantment, 3rd drag, and zephyr, i was going around at 497 ms. If i change my masteries around a bit, sacrifice the 3% max health, then I will be over 500 ms normally. Now, it isn't 9000, but that by itself is a pretty good level to reach, and more might not really solve anything.

What if they just scrap the projectile idea in general and make it something entirely different?

I honestly think he needs a bit of a ranged ability but, the current Q is just not acceptable.

On the flip side, forcing her to be melee only gives a bit more of a weakness.
