The new Irelia (awesome looking rework gj riot) has a passive that does more damage to shields. People have been talking about shields on shields on shields for a while now, and it’s one reason why adcs are kinda dominating right now. So seeing this mechanic would really make adcs have a bad time if Irelia knows what she’s doing. I can also see it making bloodthirster less powerful. So maybe this as well as the bruiser keystone is a step in the right direction to make every role important instead of just getting the marksmen fed. Just a thought.

The whole shields being the reason for marksmen being overpowered is kind of overblown though. Marksmen have been the only archetype required for every team every single season and a lot of those seasons did not revolve around shields.

Marksmen are a problem because the balance team systematically undervalues a consistent ranged autoattack.

It’s part of the reason why they are so bad recently though. And during the ardent censor craze. I do agree people might hype it up to much. I am glad the midseason is going to take a look at adc items.

You are not wrong on that. I personally find it a experiment for looking at smaller scale changes if it is balanced.

Maybe it’s an attempt of how rainbow six balances some things. Instead of nerfing something overpowered or buffing something underpowered, they add a new mechanic that can fight it be countered by it. It’s an interesting idea to add to the game instead of changing numbers to balance things out.
