Remember when Reggie blew up at Riot for making huge changes before worlds? I think he was justified...

We are seeing changes being made simply for the sake of seeing change in some cases.

They are on a set schedule of: Tank, ADC, Assassin, Mage, Tank, ADC, Assassin, Mage, ect...

Would you believe me if I told you, somebody from on high waves his hands and says I want to see Assassins played this season... and the little minions make it so....

what if I told you that by definition a meta can only be controlled by circumstance, ie not players

There is no game where the meta can be controlled by players unless the players themselves may edit the game in some way or if its some sort of sandbox or rockpaperscissors scenario

Hey, here we go... it's recursive and "meta"physical" in nature asking questions about itself. Therefore people attempting to change such meta is futile... it all comes down from a creator of sorts, or some form of pre-existence

you CAN discover new facets of a meta though. This is often referred to incorrectly as changing the meta

At the very least a meta is always controlled by players when a game is new, before developers have real numbers to work with. Whether or not League's meta has anything to do with players now is a matter of debate, but there was a time when no one in their right mind would say it wasn't a player made meta.
