Wit's End Build Path Is Terrible, Here's How To Fix It

Current Build Path item 1043 + item 1033 + item 1042 + 1050 gold

New Build Path item 1043 + item 1057 + item 2015 + 330 gold

Even on champions that I feel like this item would be good on I just never build it because it cost 2800 and the items that build into it are almost worthless on their own. Wits End current build path makes it feel like building it just sets you back by giving you very little stats until its actually completed.

As a Shaco player I feel like this item should be godly on him, maybe even core, because when you play AD Shaco every single one of his abilities does magic damage except his Q which is just modifies an auto attack. So an item that give attack speed on hit magic damage and reduces magic resist seems like it would be amazing on him, but its just not worth building because the build path is so bad.

The only champion I ever see build Wit's End is Warwick and even that's just as a late game item to fill out his build.

item 3091 itself doesn't even feel like a completed item

It needs to be reworked to remove the stacking mr and make it shred % magic resist likeitem 3071

That's a really interesting idea, I wonder if it could be an item shared by auto attackers and mages.

Wit's End is an item best used for champions who have some sort of innate on-hit effect, like Braum's passive, Lulu's passive, Thresh's E, Kog'Maw's W or Volibear's ult. It gives bonus damage, attack speed and magic resist, but it doesn't assume you're building more attack speed or crit chance. It's more a buffer than anything else.

Irelia Bot1 votes

It was not always that way.

I miss it being open ended for more attack speed and giving a good ammount of magic damage to mostly physical damage dealers.

Yes Irelia and Jax could make it worthwhile in season 2.

And it has Synergy with Sated.

Irelia Bot1 votes

Sated is a sad item that in it's current state that gives to much power when you get max stacks but a joke for power for anything less then that.

Shonjl1 votes

Personally, I would be all for removing the double attack from Sated, and just give it increasing magic on hit damage. I know this sounds like the old Feral Flare but I mean, they have to do something for AS junglers and giving on hit damage seems to be the right choice, just how much is the question.

Making it 30 on Devourer, go to 50 on Sated, and from Sated it can stack to say 70-100 then stop I feel would be still pretty damn good while not being broken.

Irelia Bot1 votes

make it be 35 on hit magic damage 35% attack speed Unique passive: This item can get up to 50 stacks; every 2 stacks increase the on hit magic damge by 1 and attack speed by 1%. Stacks are gained as followed: 1 from large nutral monsters, 2 fro mchamp kills and assists, 3 from rift harald, 4 from dragon kills/assist by your team and turret kills/assists, 5 from baron kill or assist by your team.

Max of 60 on hit magic damage and 60% attack speed with a longer more objective focused stacking period. Not as good when fully stacked as sated but at all other points it is a little bit better.

I think the problem with devouer is trying to put all of its value in on hit damage. Devourer should be something like this.

+30 Attack Damage +30% Attack Speed +30 Magic Damage On Hit

Unique Passive - Devour Upon killing 10 large jungle monsters, gain the ability to use Glutton. (No Cooldown)

Unique Active - Glutton For 10 seconds increase this items on hit magic damage to 60, and gain +20% attack speed and +5% movespeed. Additionally your basic attacks reduce your target Magic Resist by 4 for 5 seconds. (Stacks up to 5 times)

Just a random idea for reworked devourer, but it seems strong because of the active, but a lot more balanced because a lot of its power is in an active, that you have to farm the jungle to be able to use.

Every bruiser could make use of it in season 1 and 2. It was the go-to rush item if you had on-hits, even for Udyr.

Even Shen built it for his passive, along with that other attackspeed+HP item I forgot the name of.

And it was a good item with clear pros and cons.

But let's be real here...how many items ACTUALLY have cons for a champ its viable on now?

Most champion builds are so binary that there aren't many real choices you can make.

That's why I liked tanks and bruisers the most. They had the most build versatility until the new ADC itemization came in.

Hell, even Maw, an extremely helpful defensive item, helps you assassinate squishies better because it has armor pen and decent AD.

Irelia Bot1 votes

sadly Riot does not seem to make items like that anymore.

Some of the were a bit to hard on a players slot efficiency back then like QSS but current mercurial scimitar having life steal is way to forgiving to get over bloodthirstier. You use to have to give up a crit item for mercurial scimitar and that was a real price to be paid for the active which is a god send some games.

IF anything a season 2 wit's end would build into something like Madred's bloodrazors these days if it were to cost about 2000 to 2200

Irelia Bot2 votes

I still want season 2 wit's end back. It was all around good for more then just champs with a large part of their damage being magic to take advantage of the MR shred back then. Yes it was the only other damage Item I have ever felt seemed right for Irelia to build and it was not an OP over the top hybrid offensive/defensive item like Sterak's, Maw and IBG have been this season.

It was a good rush item against AP champs but fell off late game since it was limited in the stats it offered for the item slot.

If it were to cost 200 with 42 on hit magic damage (1050 effecive value) 30% attack speed (750 value) 30 MR (540 value) On hit increase your MR by 4 stacking up to 4 times for 5 seconds

That would be an item to consider getting for the cost.

I think Wits End once completed is a good item, its just the build path I don't like. At full stacks its cost efficiency is insane.

Its got terrible slot-efficiency, isn't needed for AP right now because they're so weak, and when it IS needed, you can't stick to targets well enough to make good use of it, along with the defensive stats not being enough anymore.

Mobility is a huge factor in Wit's End's viability, but with how slot-efficient ADC items are now, you can't afford a non-scaling item like Wit's End in your build as a bruiser.

Nazzadan2 votes

I thought this said "Wit's End Panth is terrible," I was like yeah no shit. But for real the build path is terrible, your idea is way better.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Generally on most champs that would like to use it, Rageblade is just better. Rageblade could definitely use some nerfs, as it is abused by Kog and devourer jglers to such a huge scale.

WW can build Wit's End after Devourer's; It's up to you.

KillerKell1 votes

Rageblade and Wit's End have Synergy though.

Each attack of Rageblade increases the AP, up to Max... while each attack of Wit's End reduces MR (and gives it to you).

So lowering MR while gaining AP is very effective.

The question is... what is the cost of pairing Rageblade and Wit's End, and as a Jungle both pair with Sated so 1/2 your build would be tied up into these, really limiting what other Items you could take.

If it were slightly stronger I think you'd see this Trifecta much more in Ranked (Sated is out in Pro Play mainly, shorter games hurt Ramp Items) and the Rageblade/Wit's End Lane Combo would be played more if it were just a bit stronger.

The problem with Wit's End is if you give it to much, it's very broken. It provides Attack Speed, Damage Increase, Debuff (3 forms of increasing Damage) and gives a Defensive Buff. That's insanity. It just doesn't provide enough of each to really stick out, and requires Champions that have Magic Damage tied into On Hit Abilities or that lead with Basic Attacks before really unloading their AP/Mix Kits.

It was designed for an already Niche Player Pool, and USED to fit in very nicely in that pool... but they scaled it back to where it's not as viable now despite 2 clear Items that it has great Synergy with (Rageblade, Sated).

The thing about building both Rageblade and Wit's end, is, that, for junglers, when they already have Devo's and Rageblade, they don't need more damage; They need tankiness. Udyr might get Triforce, but Yi, Xin Zhao and the like are more efficient going tanky(D. Man's plate). Yeah, if they buff WIt's end, the champs that build it that have base tankiness (Voli and WW mainly) will abuse it even harder than Kog and onhit effects

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

after u build rageblade u go tank. you don't need more damage.

I think that's what I said :L

While i agree that it could use a new builtpath, i think it also needs a slight boost to it's stats. Even if completed, it often doesn't feel like it pulls it's weight. Up the as to 45-50% and give it back the 42 on-hit and it'll be worth buying outside of very niche situations.

Needs more than that, even.

How about making it the fighter item to get around armor? That's what made it useful in Season 1 and 2, and its why people would buy it now (its not going to be good as a defensive item with the amount of mobility there is, despite that being what people think it's for).

The problem with this is that it adds MR, making it an arms race for who gets Wit's End first in top lane or jungle, while also providing advantages against mid.

Originally, Wit's End was an anti-mage item that gave MR and drained mana on hit. As it stands, Wit's End needs to be deleted and replaced with a new iteration of an anti-mage attack speed item focused around getting on them and sticking to them; maybe add something that counters mobility or CC as opposed to a direct mage counter.

Basically, Rageblade already fulfills Wit's End's current offensive function, which is why Wit's End needs a rework, considering it can't be an effective defensive purchase when Maw/Mercurial exists.

Wit's End is rubbish on Shaco, I'm talking the normal warrior raven hydra infinity edge statikk shiv shaco assassin splitpush build. Wit's End is for DPS fighters like WW, or Kayle. Shaco is about burst flat AD and burst. he does't get to make use out of the MR shred because he doesn't stack it.

63536895_DEL1 votes

I've had the most success with dps Shaco item 3074 item 3006 item 3153 item 3046 item 3035 item 1412

I think this game is the best game I've ever had with Shaco not because I got the most kill or anything, but because very late into the game it was looking like we were going to lose, but then I solo'd baron in like 10 seconds while the Ahri distracted then. Actually might be the best game I've ever had. Some of the items have changed since then but it's mostly the same.

Wait, if you "solo" baron with clone is it still solo?

Recently though everyone does so much damage with tank items that i just build tank and still do stupid amounts of damage item 3748 item 3111 item 3087 item 3742 item 3102 item 1413 The burst is insane with Q crit + Shiv + DMP + hydra active, all the while I'm tanky as all fuck and can't be killed with less than 3 people.

wits end needs changes. not a new build path. its terrible. expect on warwick because simply of his ultimate synergy with the item. the item is best on champions with sated. and by best. I mean the optimal use. and even then only warwick builds it because of how terrible it is. why would you build it when you can get botrk or rageblade that give more on hit damage more attack speed and more stats in general. its a cool concept and everything. but it makes no sense to build on hit when you can go crit except on devoure champs and kog maw. and even then. you have way better choices. you want mr but still do damage. get maw.

wits end passive is even worse than the stats it gives. it needs a new passive.

and wits got indirectly nerfed with the changes to runnans that it gives less attack speed and crit which on hits don't care about. since runnans applies the shred with runnans its a lot less useful now.

wits used to give more attack speed and more on hit damage and being about 300 cheaper. now its more expensive and weaker. garbage item. if you increase the MR to 60 then I might consider it.

give it a new passive. or buff the stats. 50% attack speed. 50 MR. 50 on hit magic damage. because maw is the better way to go right now. when you have rageblade and devoure you don't need more damage tbh you want tankiness.

you know you can build titanic. get almost 500 health. nearly as much on hit damage. 35 ad.
