Why is Sions pickrate so low?

op.gg shows that Sion has a 0.92% pickrate in the top lane. Apparently Hecarim has a slightly higher pickrate top than Sion, even though it's mainly a jungle champion.

Why? Is Sion underpowered? Is he too hard and complicated to pick up now? Why does a jungler have a higher pickrate top than Sion?

They basically removed any skill expression from his kit and turned him into just HP stacker

E used to do more if you hit a minion into stuff, Q did more damage

Now you do minimal damage, with very obvious CC, so theres better picks

His pick rate is low because riot fucked everything in his kit just to allow him to keep his buffed W which is what made him a problem in the first place.

His E is gutted. His Q is for all purposes gutted. His W passive is too good, but not good enough to make up for all the times riot beat around it just so that it could stay.

Because he is overall weakest ever since they double nerfed him in one patch because he was mildy over preforming

Sounds like just his mains are playing him.

He isn’t underpowered. People just don’t play as many tanks right now.

  1. Tanks are weak
  2. Sion isn't particularly fun to play as a tank
  3. You need to be a really special person and really smart to play sion as AD successfully
  4. Regardless of how you build Sion is one of the hardest tanks to play.
