What's the point of tanks anymore??

The new season is really confusing, I can't understand it till now, can someone explain? Like what's the point of tanks anymore? I can't even survive to a single person. I can't farm in lane, I have to play incredibly safe, cannot touch a minion often, I'm always behind.....Later my teammates are getting one shot, I'm buying support items like a moron, getting flamed for it because no one ever seen top laners buy support items.

I've created my own strategy which is so stupid but somehow works, I went from gold 5 to plat 1 by only playing Sion top with my dumb strategy....I get flamed and harassed for it very often. When ppl see your builds are off meta they will become aggressive for no reason.

Ya unfortunately most tanks are troll picks atm, especially in jungle and top, but kind of okay in support (provided that the enemy support isn't brand or something)

Tanks are no longer viable except for Cho'gath. What bruisers wanted was Fervor of Battle not that braindead conqueror that deals true damage for no reason...

And yet they suck the cock and balls of Koreans when they make up shit. Anyone that bitches about off-meta stuff needs to uninstall the game because it's insulting to players that actually think strategically and do things outside the box.

Back in the day a tank could be the walking damage sponge, but today you're expected to be a utility cannon.

IDK, i havent found tanks to be particularly bad since the 8.11 changes, which destroyed most of the meta. I don't play jungle tanks but top lane tanks IMO are still fine, their matchups haven't really changed. Conqueror is still the same as it was before 8.11 and so are the builds for people who use conqueror, so that hasn't changed. Tanks still beat assassins except for very early and VERY VERY LATE. I was worried about IE true damage being hard to counter build, but crit carries are all but eradicated from the game.

So in the end, tanks are still a viable pick IMO. The hardest part is that you can't really protect squishy teammates because burst damage is so high that people dont need to land their whole kit to kill someone, and their is nothing you can do to prevent people from being caught out of position. Tanks still have good matchups top, some more difficult than others because of conqueror, but they aren't unplayable and you can still win based on skill. And in some games, the other team will be entirely AD or AP without any real DPS source because everyone has a hard-on for burst damage and lethality/M-pen. In those games as a tank you can really shine because they don't have a way to take you down.

To offer cc, and be disruptive in teamfights, they dont have to be unkillable.
