so how is enemy team all silver 5 and i have all bronzes when im silver 5

Im currently on 3 game loss streak with 3 afks in a row... and now i get a under fair match making value team? for the fourth game who trolled me but i still won, so explain how is this fair after i already lost 3 and then i get the team that has a kda of garbage, is that because im too good and it trys to make it fair? cuz that isnt really fair trying to even out games, same bracket same players should be the mehtod used. like Silver 3 plays with silver 3. Games shouldnt be fair but based off skill who is the better team, if your silver 3 u play with other silver 3 and the pool increases as wait times increase but none of this he has a 4.0 kda so lets match him with that .5 kda player to balance it out isnt a fair game

There is literally no different between a player in silver 5 to players in high bronze.

One has fancy borders at the end of the season and the other one doesn't.

Basically those silver 5's mmr was currently equal to that of a bronze 1.

This sums it up. Many seem to breath too heavily into the importance of the rank itself. While it is a representation of where you stand publicly as a player in Ranked, it does not represent your actual skill level. Elo still very much plays a role in who you partner up with and fight against.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. A player that won't listen to reason will never advance. I run into feeders and troll players too, so don't treat it like you're above your situation. Enjoy struggling.

Honest question (because it's something I've wondered about the whole BS "elo" system): Let's assume I get boosted up to Gold 3 or something. I play some games and fall to Gold 5, but my MMR is I dunno, let's say Silver 4 or something. I now play against low Silvers, assuming I can hold level there, one would assume my MMR holds steady, but let's say I keep bouncing (win 1, lose 1). In theory, my actual elo/mmr is Silver 4, but my RANK is Gold 5.

Hence, what I assume is the original point of the post. While I realize it can get problematic at the higher tiers, WHY do players EVER play outside their rank? If we're basing rank on how you do against comparable skill, you should ALWAYS play against your current rank, thus "if you're better, you win; if you're worse, you lose". But if the game matches you against comparable skill, it's entirely possible (and in fact, probable) that you'll NOT be at your actual "ability" because eventually (at some point) you could hit equilibrium playing against people of a different rank than yourself but comparable skill.

Ex: If I have to play 7 games (5 games of +20LP or so, plus 2 placements) to go from say B5 to B4 and I stomp all 5, I'm now B4 but my MMR might be B1. If I stomp all 7 B4, I'm now B3, but my MMR may be mid Silver. Now I'm playing with/against silvers despite being B3. Let's assume I SHOULD be mid/high silver, if my MMR holds I may never leave Bronze because I don't play Bronzes anymore, whereas if I was only playing B3s I should cruise through Bronze.
