Let's talk about vlad

Lets talk about vlad. First off I would like to say I don't think he needs a buff or a nerf. How ever the thing that does make him too much over the top is that he does not have to leave his lane. That in my view is not really fair in terms of other champs. Most champs have to leave even Nasus, lee, and others do. So this is some thing that I think should be talked about.

You are aware that everything you said about Vlad applies to every AD champ in the game who buys a life steal item, either Botrk or BT, right? Vlad buys his WoTA, which is frankly he and Mord are pretty much the only two champs who get anything out of it, and they don't leave lane.

This can be considered when literally every AD champ in the game doing the exact same thing can be considered an issue.

Not true. Other champs have mana they run out of. and even if you go life steal you can only stay so long til the person gets enough minions. Vlad does not have energy or mana. And most ability's do life steal. His pools makes for a great tower hug til full again.

Rengar doesnt have to leave lane. Frenzied Road heals him, plus if he had Lifesteal, plus no resource cost

Rengar/Shyvana/Lee/Tryn/Zed/Riven...I mean do I need to continue with the train if melee never has to leave lane due to life steal crowd? Really complaining about Vlad sustain, or any AP who can sustain of WOTA, is just stupid when you actually realize how insane AD sustain is by comparison.

As someone who's been maining Vlad a lot lately, I can't completely agree. I find that if I stay in lane for longer than I'm supposed to my opponent will come back with an item advantage and force an all in, I never truly see the point in staying in lane forever.

I do, however, tend to stall for good periods of time until notable powerspikes (Hextech, NLR, Sorc Boots etc), as Vlad's sustain allows you to do so even if you're being punished.

That's pretty much Vlads (or any manaless champs) strength.

His strengths

  • good sustain in the mid to late game
  • good at extended trades.
  • scales well late game.

His Weaknesses

  • little mobility,
  • vulnerable to burst and all in potential.
  • poor laning phase.

And until recently, his weaknesses kept him out of the meta. Not having mana != not having to leave. Any serious level of poke, or all in and vlad needs to retreat or die.

And the main reason he's viable in the Tank meta is that tanks have fewer tools to exploit his weaknesses. All while he can farm up to late game. But his weaknesses are their, and he's not oppressive, so Riot probably won't and shouldn't do anything about it.

Nasus with Crystalline Flask doesn't have to leave lane.

Not to mention a multitude of other champions. They already nerfed Vlad's sustain and ultimate damage, does he really need a further poke?

As much as I can see every ones point a cross. Even the items, and stuff. I still see vlad out performing every top lane because of him being able to stay longer then most champs. Sure you can gank him, but most jungler's feel he is not much of a thret when it comes to team comps

Vlad doesn't beat a lot of the common top laners because of his sustain, although it helps, he beats most of them because he deals damage from range and they have limited ability to get to him to really put out their damage. The sustain makes Vlad a champ you have to all in but a lot of top laners simply can't.

That said take Irelia against Vlad and you will see just how poorly Vlad does against all ins, it really isn't pretty.
