There is no meta. People are too narrowminded to consider even one single factor, let alone the dozens, if not hundreds, of other factors that go into every scenario.
If Zed ults a squishy, barring some divine intervention (Read:
), the squishy is probably dead. HOWEVER, if he ults a tank, the tank has a pretty damn good chance of living. That is not a binary indicator that Zed is underpowered or that the tank is overpowered. Zed's an assassin; he's meant to focus all his might on squishies and get the fuck out before anyone is able to catch him. Why? Because he lacks crowd control and durability; if he gets caught, he's DEAD. Tanks and anyone with good crowd control are his natural enemy.
Likewise, tanks are good at taking a ton of damage, but at the same time, they tend to be outmaneuvered pretty easily by groups, and outranged. They're meant to attract enemy fire and lock down the enemy while the rest of their team focuses their firepower on that unlucky soul. People, however, are stupid, and they try to equate every champion to Zed or Yasuo, in damage terms. If they don't do as much damage as Yasuo, they're terrible. If Yasuo can beat them, they're terrible. At the same time, if they can beat Yasuo, they're overpowered and need to be nerfed.
The game is actually more balanced than it ever has been, but the community is still functioning off of the lone wolf, all or nothing, pentakills forever mindset. That's why you see mostly assassins and ADCs these days.
