Fiddlesticks needs compensation

magic pole··82 votes·2,989 views

REMINDER: Ahri's "core" item DFG was removed from the game. She immediately received compensation for "hurting " her build with a significant buff on her Q.

Fiddlesticks's core item MAGUS was also removed from the game, and replaced with an item which is really not so good on him. He is in need of a compensation buff. This game change hurt his early game, so i think it is appropriate he receives a slight early game buff. PLEASE no double standard. Ahri didnt even need a buff even without DFG. stop leaving fiddlesticks in the dirt.

I'd say he needs a buff due to his terrify being reduced in duration, his passive not proccing till he deals magic damage to an enemy, and terrify ALWAYS making them run away from him and his main damage.

And his drain tether range being reduced by 150.

Magus was never Fiddle's core item. Fiddles core item always has been and always will be item 3157.

Magus gave extra gold, CDR and was extremelly gold efficient. It was always the first item to buy because otherwise Zhonya is unaffordable and you lost a lot of damage while trying to buy it eitherway.

I get Ahri didn't need a buff without DFG... but so did a lot of champs and they just got nerfed more(coughVeigar cough). And even if, Fiddle's core item wasn't Magus. In fact, a lot of the Fiddlesticks mains(I think it was like 20%~ or something) didn't even build Magus. Probably because it was better to rush something else, either Zhonya's or WotA, or maybe just Rabadon's.

To be really honest, Magus was necessary for the gold. Of course, you started with amplying tome isntead of the jungle item, but in the long run you miss on a lot of Gold. So now you either die with Runeglaive (or go gimmick with Cinderhulk) or try and rush Zhonya with Large Rod still being really expensive for a jungler.

We need compensation.

Vellich0r1 votes

compensation? do you wanna end up with another veigar?

Grey Deaf Orthro2 votes

Veigar was stupid. Fiddle isn't a "I clicked on you therefore your are dead" champion. A little bit of care for Fiddle wouldn't be bad. Even if they put Runeglaive into use or some weird crazy stuff like making you want to use Cinderhulk (buffing heal to a HP percentaje). Or making his early-to-mid game transition more solid so you don't mind taking 20 minutes to build Zhonya with the jungler's outcome.

Vellich0r1 votes

First, he sorta is an I clicked on you therefore you are dead champ as his kit can often murder you during the huge fear, second I was referring to the "compensation" that veigard had after the removal of DFG

TotalJerk1 votes

That whole "I clicked" thing would be a fair criticism if it wasn't 575 range. Lots of champions have gap-closers that outrange his fear.

Vellich0r1 votes

By that logic, the same can be said for veigar. lots of champs can outrange his ult, beyond that his ult can be blocked by windfall, braum shield, and is easy to spell shield.

TotalJerk1 votes

Well combining his E's range with it's radius, it can reach out to about 1075 units, now and 1025 before the rework. So Veigar's instant CC had almost double the potential range.

Kouga1 votes

Thing is, Cinder isn't actually a gimmick. The AoE burn on it actually works well with his close-range playstyle of ulting in and keeping people close with fears & silences. Plus he can be a little bit beefier which doesn't hurt. His AP ratios aren't actually very good, but he has good base damages and natural MPen* via his passive. Building him more tanky AP rather than raw AP isn't a bad option.

His passive gives Magic penetration, not MR. Cinderhulk is a gimmick because you don't oftenly find yourself building HP nor fighting at close range. His fear makes his targets run away from him, and the silence won't make them unable to get away. When you Ult, people's first reaction is to get out of your range, and you have no way of stopping them. Even building Crystal Scepter won't make your targets stay at close enough range for Cinderhulk to do damage. Also, the boosted survivality won't make you tanky enough to not get locked and killed with ease, it will just increase your alive time by maximum 1 second.

Kouga1 votes

MPen* is what I meant, thank you for correcting me.

I've ran Fid with Rylais (HP/AP), Spirit V(HP/MR), Hourglass (AP/Armor), and he gets pretty durable. If you have a high damage team, just his fear alone can make a gank pretty easy. And while his Silence doesn't physically stop a Champion, it can prevent them from using their mobility (Riven, Trist jump) long enough for a teammate to catch them, esp. when combo'd with fear. And yes it makes them walk away, but its at a very slow pace and its just to normalize their response, since before they could randomly end up moving away at an even faster pace.

Not saying its the most statistically efficient build, just that it can be done. Or just building a Penetration build (Sorc shoes, Guise, Abyssal) and then going tank after that. Even other mages or tank mages like Liss or AP Malphite can put out a lot of damage by going with penetration & base over raw ap.

Wouldn't call magus fiddle's core item, or even a core item on fiddle. That honour goes to zhonya's. But I agree fiddle needs buffs, give the scarecrow something nice.

His ult is strong enough, adding more power to it only makes him more of a one-trick pony. I'd rather see them add power to his basic skills. I understand they don't want to rebuff his q, so maybe do something with e to make it more of a decision to level early vs w. Or make his w require less time for a full drain. They nerfed his cc by .75 sec, and they nerfed the drainrange, so making the drain 4 sec instead of 5 might help, but then again, it might break him I'm not good at balancing.

Maybe just rework E entirely, It relies too much on RNG.

Good point, at least make his e less random. Back when I mained fiddle for two seasons one of my main annoyances was his e. Though while they're at it they might also want to fix his q, it has some weird interactions. I've been ulted by a feared Warwick for example.

TotalJerk1 votes

The randomness isn't just annoying for him, it's annoying for the enemy, as well.

Magus was as core on Fiddlsticks as Zhonya's. All his best builds before Runeglaive was introduced either rushed Magus or built it right after boots. Zhonya's was then the third item.

Seriously that E just needs its cost reduced or given its ability to silence on multiple hits again or SOMETHING, because as it is, at rank 5, it costs 130 mana to deal 145 damage (+45% AP) to one or more things and maybe silence nearby champs for a bit, which is just too much mana for such a mediocre spell

Silence on multiple hits and not have to target things that haven't been silenced yet.

only buff he needs is:

drain mana cost is now 50 all lvl. dark wind mana cost: 70 Now he can jungle properly

He is not very fun to play because of the fear change, which makes people run away from you + lower teather range.

Fiddle is a weird champion. He used to be the most underestimated and maybe even best constant soloQ champion, but now he is actually underpowered. Goddamn, why don't they just change Magus, Cinderhulk and Devourer back, from what I've seen they all bring more trouble than benefit.

You can't buy Zhonya without the Gold bonus from Magus. That was he whole purpose of buying it in the first place.

Silents4292 votes

Magus didn't give a gold bonus an upgraded machete does.

Zeurth1 votes

I'm not sure how that specific item was his core item. It just provided a ball of stats which isn't healthy it didn't do anything specifically except here's ap and cdr. Runeglaive does that but just not as much.

You also tried to compare Ahri who also got her e's damage increase removed to Fiddle receiving no change to his kit what so ever. I don't think you're educated enough about champions/patches to ask for compensation.

XIII Vanitas1 votes

Magus was Fiddle's core item? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!! Nice joke man, never read something that funny on the boards.

magic pole1 votes

thanks for the input

XIII Vanitas1 votes

Ok, I'll be serious. I play a lot of jungle and I think Fiddlesticks should be treated just like Rengar: buy item 3713, don't upgrade it and then sell it late game. There are better items for both of them, don't waste your gold. Magus was decent on Fiddlesticks, maybe good (really arguable), but definetely not core. You can live without it as much as you can live without Runeglaive.

Hey friend....

Don't ask for a mage to get compensation for the removal of DFG. You might end up like Mordekaiser and Veigar.

I would be intressting that his Dark Wind get aplied to his auto attacks & maybe allow it onhit effects.
