Does Twisted Fate need a rework?
tf feels like a gragas/rek'sai of the midlane (as in well-rounded) where he has pretty much everything; he is both an assassin and a mage. The difference is that it feels like tf is so outdated, that his job feels like it can be done by everyone, but better.
So there are some things that every midlaner needs to be proficient in, and why tf isnt as good as everyone in it:
Wave clear: his only waveclear is his q and w, but both of those take up a lot of mana, and mana isnt something tf has a lot of. This means that champions with a lot of wave clear (most mages, and some assassins) can force him to miss cs under tower.
Roaming: Although in the current meta its not important, roaming is a crucial part of a midlaner. Most would say that tf dominates in this field, but that's only true in certain circumstances. In order to roam, tf has to make sure his lane isnt pushed in. This is difficult to do when the enemy midlaner is 9 times out of 10 going to be a pushing monster. That means tf will either stay in lane to stop the push, or roam (which isn't a guaranteed kill) and lose half his turret's hp (probably lose it if the opponent is aa based like azir, or yasuo.)
Burst/Poke: All midlaners have one of, or both of these. They either have incredible range for poke damage, or high burst damage to kill squishies. tf has a pretty mediocre burst combo, and is also short ranged (with no mobility outside of summoner spells.) tf technically has poke, but its high-cost in mana and slow speed makes it pretty useless.
Utility: Midlaners need some form of cc (except if a high mobility assassin) and need something to protect the carry, and themselves. The only thing he has is gold card, which is both unreliable, and short ranged (except if you get rapid fire cannon, but that's a bad item to build on ap tf.)
Specific examples of champions that are mostly better than tf (can be subjective with most, but not all) Taliyah: Better roam, more cc, higher range, lower mana costs, and better waveclear. Also has tons of zone control. In my opinion, she completely eclipses tf in all categories. Vel'Koz: Better poke/burst, more waveclear, much higher range, low mana costs, and more reliable when behind. Lissandra: Better utility, ganks, mobility, and wave clear. Ahri: Can roam more often (because of lower cd on ulti), more utility, higher range, and is a better mage/assassin hybrid.
Thanks for reading all of this, and please comment on whether you think twisted fate is in need of a rework. This was my first large post, so please post any criticisms you have on it ;D
