Leveling up a new account is a rubbish experience.
First of all, it takes 40,000 experience to reach level 30. Each game gives 100 on average, which you can use a boost to bring that number to 200. Which you can use a double boost to bring that number to about 300 experience on average, per game.
40000 divided by 300 is 133 games. Mind you, that's with TWO boosts active. Without the boosts, it would take 400 games to reach level 30. Unless my math is wrong, that's kind of rediculous.
But that's not why I'm here. I'm here because I'm in queue for 30 freakin minutes to get into an ARAM game. I mean, it's 5am, so few people are on right now, it can't find enough players for ARAM at the moment. I'm playing ARAM so that I don't lose my mind with boredom playing against AI bots.
I'm actually running the game in Windowed mode, on the lowest resolution, so that I can keep a browser open on the same screen to watch movies, while I play ARAM. It's literally so boring and lame to have to play this many games, that I'm resorting to watching movies while I do it, just so I don't lose my mind.
But a 30 minute queue? I feel like the length of the queue should affect the amount of experience, just like the way it gives you experience for each second you are in a game... well... it should give me more experience for the fact that I had to wait 30 minutes to get through the queue. Just saying.
I don't blame people for buying accounts, considering this is what it's like to level one up yourself. I won't buy an account because I'm planning to rank this one up for a long time, and I heard Riot can ban your account even years later, if they detect it was botted to 30 originally. I can't risk that so I'm leveling it myself just to be absolutely safe.
In case anyone is wondering, I have a main account on the NA server and this new one I'm leveling up on the LAN server, because I have friends in LAN I want to play with. So I need a NA account, to play with my NA friends, and I need another account in LAN... so don't criticize me for creating a smurf in LAN, I actually need two accounts, I'm not smurfing on the same server that my main is on, just for luls or whatever. But the experience of leveling up a new account is just dreadful.
EDIT: after a 44 minutes wait in queue, I finally canceled it because I have to freakin pee.
EDIT 2: I know some people probably will defend the huge number of games required to play ranked, and I get the reasoning. But I wanted to point out that with the recent addition of Iron, there really isn't as much need anymore for players to be "decent" to play ranked. Isn't that what Iron is for? I think a player should be allowed to play ranked after they finish the tutorial, and maybe level up to 10... and then, just put them into Iron tier (assuming they suck), and nobody is going to care if they play good or bad in Iron.
When I originally came to League, it took me TWO YEARS to level up to 30. I wanted to play ranked because I originally came from Dota and HoTS, so I knew about moba ranked play. I wanted to play league ranked. But it took so long to get level 30, I quit the game. Came back, quit again. Came back, quit again. Ended up taking me two years of quitting, before my account was eventually 30, and immediately I was addicted once I was allowed to play ranked, and I never quit again. So I know League loses some players because of requiring level 30 before ranked.
