Riot admitted that the matchmaker is rigged, and nobody even noticed.

According to a 2018 Riot blog, it is true that based on, and I quote, "ALL THE DATA WE HAVE", the game outcome should be 50 +/-1%.

So I want you to think about that. Slowly.

ALL. THE. DATA.

What would "all the data" include? Just the player's MMR? Hahaha, very funny.

Quit believing that a huge game company like Riot, which has endured years of criticism against its matchmaker, would refrain itself enough to limit the matchmaker to "just MMR". Pull your head out of the sand. They have a lot more data than that, and don't fool yourself.

ALL THE DATA would include each player's average grades. ALL THE DATA would include each player's behavior patterns. ALL THE DATA would include each player's frequent picks, bans, hard counters.

Don't believe me? Search the following blog post for the text "all the data", to see the quote for yourself: https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2018/02/dev-matchmaking-real-talk/

Quote: Within the actual systems, most teams have an expected win rate of 50 +/-1%. This means from all the data we have, we think we’ve made a fair match.

So you should expect that if you score high win rates, the system will put the lower grading players on your team, and the higher grading players on the enemy team, to help ensure that the probable outcome is 50 +/-1%.

And you should expect that if you have good picks, the matchmaker will put you against enemies who will ban your pick, steal your pick, or hard counter your strategy. It's not bad luck. Riot knows you like that pick. You are aggressive early? Riot knows. It'll match you with opponents who typically ban your pick. Steal your pick. Opponents who better handle your early aggression. It's not bad luck. The matchmaker is actively working to oppose you, because your win rate went above 50%.

But why? Well, in the end, a 50% win rate already exists. Because for every time someone wins, someone else has to lose. However, Riot wants to "redistribute" the LP wealth, by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Think Robin Hood. Think Socialism. This redistribution would make it more difficult for anyone to "get rich", aka rank up. All this is so that high elo would be rare, so top players would be renown, and everyone else would wish to be like them. This dream of fame and stardom would make the game more alluring, more attractive, and more addictive.

I mean, did you really think that Riot went through all that trouble to create such a complex grading system, just so that you can see your S+ score at the end of the game? Haha. No. They created the grading system because they knew that MMR alone wasn't enough. Too many smurfs. Too many veteran players with years of experience. MMR alone couldn't quickly identify these players, but a complex grading system could.

So the better you play, the harder your games will get, even within the same elo. If you really want to win, you need to expect this to happen.

Only way to rank up is to play a diverse pool of champs, and change strategies frequently, so that the matchmaker can't predict what you will do. And then to play so good, that the matchmaker cannot find sufficiently bad allies, or good enough of opponents within the same MMR range, to stop you from winning.

Yeah, that totally explains why there are so many one tricks in Challenger, right?

Riot has disabled the forced win rate algorithms for most of the top streamers on twitch. Because unfair losses are not fun to watch, and they want to keep league at the top of twitch. If you are a top streamer and they haven't already unlocked your account, you can send a ticket to support. Just let them know you're a top streamer on twitch, and they'll be more than happy to flag your account for easy wins.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on these Boards.

Op is probably one of those people who always say “it’s my team’s fault” every single game. They are doing 100% everything correct in every game but it’s the feeding bot they are given every game.

bruh youre actually r%%%%%ed if you think there is no bias in the matchmaking system. if you think their is only mmr and not forced wins then you should uninstall tbh

Please tell me you don't actually believe this. You don't even watch them or you'd see. Please tell me you're trolling and millions of years of evolution haven't lead to an IQ this low.

Your ignorance on the topic is instantly apparent my friend. You Fail to use a SINGLE term relevant to MMR systems.

MMR is a derivative of Elo's work. This is built off some concepts for probability, The two you need to care about are Normal distribution or Logistical Distribution. With a Elo Rating At a gap of 4-10 points, it is assumed a 1% value. This is relevant to system expectations on match results. Not realistic or actual results, the expectations.

Your quoted Evidence?

Quote: Within the actual systems, most teams have an expected win rate of 50 +/-1%. This means from all the data we have, we think we’ve made a fair match.

This is Literally the following statement

But we can’t rely purely on the raw data. What if players are playing positions or champions they aren’t familiar with? What if there’s a large discrepancy in MMRs in a normal premade, or a player hasn’t played enough games to get an accurate rating (looking at you, smurfs)? On top of this, there could be personal factors that matchmaking can’t see—lack of sleep, one too many Graggy Ices...

Elo made his system to account for human inaccuracy's. It does not expect players to be 100% consistent. Your MMR is only ever expected to be relevant when accurate, and when accurate its expected to represent your Mean average Range of performance. In adherence to either Normal or Logistical Distribution.

Great outrage post but Your full of crap. "And you should expect that if you have good picks, the matchmaker will put you against enemies who will ban your pick, steal your pick, or hard counter your strategy. It's not bad luck. Riot knows you like that pick. You are aggressive early? Riot knows. It'll match you with opponents who typically ban your pick. Steal your pick. Opponents who better handle your early aggression. No one could climb if this was true. I consistently do my mains to climb and sink on off roles and champions. So lets make it an Ancedotal evidence fight. Your claim and mine directly contradict eachother. My ability to climb each season is directyly related to how much time I sink into my mains.

better option is study the systems like I did. Feel free to Come back when you can discuss K factor or We variable creation with me mate. Or if you don't know anything about them just let me know. I will happily take the time to correct ignorance for any one whos curious on the topic.

There are benefits to learning. You could actually make posts about issues with Riots system once you do rather then some idiotic Forced 50% garbage that pops up in literally every fourms for games with teammates and Matchmaker. Smite, Hots, Dota2, OW, all have had the same fad of players finding excuses for why they cant climb. ITs the game, its the devs, its the teammates, its anything BUT me.

This is easy to disprove. Look to your first game on a champion, look to when you started. any one with significant play time can objectively measure if they are better at the game. Look at a Trash teammate who cost you a loss, turns out low skill is a bad thing. Look at some asshole smurf pubstomping solo. Turns out high skill abuses lower skill.

You have no Data other then TRUST ME DUDES. That's weak. the game does not try to match team win rates to be 50%. It shows up clearly as RNG and that upsets a lot of players who then stupidly demand that riot fixes their "Rigged forced 50%" by.... Actively trying to rigg teams to be 50% WR? [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Actually insane how dumb this is, because people still climb. If you're better you will climb. People move on the ladder and they CAN'T rig it against YOU because everyone gets the same matchmaking. Sure the "data" you're talking about is different but that method of matchmaking applies to everyone.

Stop blaming matchmaking for your losses. Sure it can happen, but in the end you ranking up is down to your skill. Individual games might not be, but in 10+ games your skill WILL make a difference.

Thank you. One day the community will stop blaming matchmaking or their team. Yeah we all get that game where someone sinks the ship single handily with dumb plays or poor attitude. But it isn’t every game.

Phieldworker1 votes

I feel like it’s more like 40% of games you’ll win more easily, 40% of the games will be a tough loss and then 20% of the games depends on you more. That’s why when people smurf from high elo they usually have about 60% winrate. But when you’re in your elo you usually hang around 50-53 % winrate.

Bouwer1 votes

2/5 gamea is hard loss, 2/5 games is easy win, 1/5 games you can make the difference. Thats how I see it.

Phieldworker1 votes

If you boil it down to that. But really you shouldn’t look at it like that. You should look at it in a “hey it’s ok if I lose” way. Because if we are always looking waiting for that loss, more will come than we want. Going into my S1 promos and into G4 I had a 8 game win streak. Some games were hard (had a 50 min game) and others were easy.

completely agree with subj. The reason why i didnt donate a single penny to riot since flex algorims released and next added to soloq (season 5-6). But this cant be changed. Moderator-bots auto downvoting threads like that, the topic does not go up and does not appear in the boards (additional proof about subj for me). GJ riot

it would be financially stupid NOT to control the algorithms. Climbing is addicting. People who dont think a corporation would try to take every single advantage to bring their "end of the year" numbers higher is new to life.
