Any other supports disappointed by the new honor system?

It seems like playing support is the least likely to get you honor these days. Save peoples lives, peel your ass off, secure kills for days, be a goddamn rainbow of sunshine when everyone else is yelling at each other and being toxic but then the guy getting the kills gets the honor.

Nah I usually get one honour which is from my ADC lol

I pretty much only play support. Honours are not rare at all for me.

What elo are you then? Might be a low elo problem...

LostFr0st1 votes

I just placed. Idk what elo I'll end up in. I only play solo, never duo. Right now I'm Silver 5 (10 games played) and I get at least one honour each game (probs the AD) and sometimes a full leaf. Getting honours is just about being chill.

Yeah that's not my problem I'm always friendly.

Hmm :/

If you play engage often, try going back after the initial engage to peel for your AD or mid (whoever the enemies are going to go on that's "far" from you and who thinks that they've been forgotten in the fray). You can usually get at least one honour by doing that.

I've had success on Galio, Rakan, and Sona with that. I don't have a huge sample size though ;.;

Hrrm, I do usually try to follow the most fed person as the support, in order to win... But doing what you suggest kinda becomes a choice of risking not winning to help those who need it most, for a chance at honor. On its face it doesn't seem worth it, but I'll give it a try.

It has nothing to do with not protecting the "fed" person... you misread me.

Go back and watch one of your own replays.

There was more than likely a time where X diver/assassin was on Y team mate and you were off diving the enemies instead of taking 2 seconds to stun that other guy so your team can fight together instead of flipping a coin at who wins the teamfight.

It's something as simple as pressing Locket 5 seconds earlier when you're closer to them so they get the shield too, or holding onto your ult to toss it onto their most fed member when they dive for your mid in the middle of a fight.

In the end you should win more games too, since you are watching for and predicting what the enemies will do, and saving something to hit them with when they do come in.

I find I can pretty reliably get the honour from the 'obvious' carry that everyone else is honouring.

Although really, game performance is supposed to be independant of sportsmanship.

Cavesloth1 votes

True, but how often do you see the player that carried hard getting honored, even when they didn't talk all game?

Mysticman891 votes

I recognise that how things are 'supposed' to be and how they actually are, are different things.

Occasionally the adc (or whoever is being a big carry) will be all 'janna carry <3' when I save their ass and then the rest of the team will notice me and I'll get a pile of honors, but I'm probably ok with getting fairly reliable single honors most games, rather than trying to be the MVP dmg carry.

Cavesloth1 votes

Honestly I'd be happy with just getting one.

But yeah that's the point I was trying to make. The honor system, while it has done great things and has improved player behavior by a HUGE amount as far as I've seen, and makes getting keys more reliable, its kinda failing at rewarding the people who are actually honorable a good portion of the time, and just rewarding those who are good at the game, not those who make the game more enjoyable. Not that it isn't vast improvement over what we had before mind you, just there's still some room for improvement.

Well, according to some rioter (possibly tantram, don't recall for sure though), they have been tracking honors by role, and are finding a fairly even split between roles (so supports who probably aren't obvious carries in most games, are still getting the same amount on average as adcs/mids who might have more visible game impact).

That doesn't mean that the honors are being given for the 'right' reasons of course, but it does suggest that we're not at an honor disadvantage for playing support.

(Maybe supports are just more honourable people on average, so the honors for actual sportsmanship make up for the lack of ones we might get for simply being good at the game) [slayer-jinx-catface]

I get plenty of honour regularly, so your claim is meh.

Cavesloth1 votes

By your logic, I could say I don't so your claim is meh.

If you're a decent person and understand the support role, the adc will most likely honor you. You spend the entire laning phase/game with your adc. Trust me, the adc will notice.

Cavesloth1 votes

I went 0/2/33, and no honor, so trust me they don't always notice. And I was friendly, so it wasn't like I didn't get honored because i was toxic.

Grjjm Reaper1 votes

nope, love it and I am support KaynKayn

Cavesloth1 votes

To those who you who said you get honor as support I have a follow-up question, what rank are you? I suspect this maybe a problem because I am low elo player.

Reaper Soraka1 votes

From what I've seen honors go to the player with the highest KDA.

I still get honors frequently.. I think it's because of the relationship between the support and the adc.

I rarely honor anyone but my adc.
