How do I carry these types of games?

Hey yall. I'm really close to getting back into silver ELO, and I have been struggling in my promos with games like this:

http://www.auplod.com/u/oaplud7fde0.png

In these sorts of games, I always do really well. I try to ward as much as possible (I buy pinks when I can) and If my bot or Top lane is struggling I try to either add pressure or Roam and help them secure some kills/assists. I'm decent at CSing and normally have some of the highest in the game if I'm a laner. I try to take towers when I can, but it's hard when the enemy's are so ahead. However I still can't carry. I have some friends who tell me with these games, there is just nothing you can do, and to a point, I feel they are right. However I'm having a lot of these, so I've come to the boards for advice because I obviously don't know enough on the subject.

Sometimes becoming the shot caller and convincing people to listen is the only way you will win. Not dying can be a bad thing. Sometimes you have to go all in and take as many as you can with you and hope your team cleans up and then pushes. Some games arent winnable and pople need to accept that too. Just move forward to the next one

I have actually come to understand this over the past week or so. I used to always feel bumbed out when I lost, but considering I have around a 60% win rate, I normally just bounce right back. There's no use getting mad over a win because if your good enough climbing afterwards shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah i initially had a 57% winrate but its dropped to 51% lol. I just want to be sure i win more than i lose

Some games are unwinable. Just accept defeat and move onto the next game.

Edit: to further explain myself I'll talk about your team comp.

You jungler shouldn't pick kha zix an assassin when you're already playing fizz. This leaves cho to be the only tank on your team while the enemy team had vayne, the tank shredding champion. Second, they had a rammus which effectively renders your adc useless and garen as a second tank. Third, your team was outranged by lux poke giving them advantage in skirmishes.

The best option you had was to dodge during champion select. While player skill can overcome disadvantages, your team has such a huge disadvantage in team comp that it's better to lose a few lp than risk this game and lose time and mmr.

That's a good way of thinking about it. I should do that in champion select more often. Like when you say it, its very simple: we have one tank against true dmg tank shredder, while they have 2 tanks who make my adc useless. Just dodge lmao. Good insight.

I don't understand how you got that fed and didn't manage to secure a single objective. Did you not push after killing your opponent(s)? Or go for dragon? What happened?

3ofGot40ve1 votes

I got most of my snowballing from roams, and then got a LOT of my kills while they were taking our base. Ide say like 6 kills from roaming, and all the rest were picks I got on lux/vayne/bard while they were destroying inhibs. Also After I would roam, I would be severly low as the vayne did a ton of dmg, and I didn't want to get picked by the ramus.

Amelie1 votes

Ah. Well, then it wasn't winnable. You would have to dominate your lane and turn that into objectives. Lux only died twice, so that didn't happen.

There's no way for you to "carry" just because your KDA is inflated from getting picks like that.

Force them to take towers with you, even if you need to do 5 man tower rotations

1 or 2 people were gray screen basically the whole game.

With this KDA and farm you should be able to 1 shot all those squishy champs such as Vayne, Lux and Bard. Then i guess that you and your team can manage to fight the tanky ones together, or simply focus on objectives like towers or dragon/baron. That would be an option. The other option would be to simply help your team mates get kills. In this game you only got 1 assist, while 14 kills. It means that even if you ganked your mates, they get only 1 kill from your ganks during the game. As a main mid laner, i assure you that you can't win a game without your team's help. As an adc / top laner you can throw their towers down easily, but not as a mid laner. So the best way to win is get fed and help your mates get fed (ofc they got to follow you).

I 99% agree with you.

For the last 1%: sometimes your mates are really bad/tired/drunk/whatever, and you cannot do anything for them. In that case, I suggest splitpushing. Even as an AP midlaner, with Lichbane you can still take towers pretty fast.

Where do you think All my kills were coming from? :P

Then i guess that you and your team can manage to fight the tanky ones together, or simply focus on objectives like towers or dragon/baron. That would be an option. Most of the game, at least 1 or 2 of my teamtes were dead, so team fights were normally 3v5 or 4v5. Even tho I would kill vayne and bard and lux a lot, garen would obliterate my team and rrammus would get all up on jinx. I would be low after the fight an unable to help.

The other option would be to simply help your team mates get kills.

Your right about this one, however when I roamed my bot lane was dead. I would be 1v2ing the vayne and bard. Now, you could say that I need to roam when they are alive, but the truth is, they were dead most of the game. I would start running down to roam and they would die, so then Ide turn right back around to mid. Also a few of the times I tried to give them kills, my w passive stole it without my consent. Not much I could do there :/

you pick a champ that is less about getting free kills to pad your worthless KDR and actually carry

You close out on your own. But honestly, some games aren't winnable mate. You really can't worry about it. Just keep 1v5ing away and eventually the games you can win out weigh the ones you can't. Sure, even with a godlike game like that you can't win some days. But if you play like that consistently you can't be kept down.

I managed this messing around on a new smurf to hit plat 1 last season in about 65 games or so.

So don't worry so much about the one game. Worry about the win rate over time. Even as a former master tier player in season 4 I can't win em all. I don't even try to. I just try to be consistent each game and play hard and smart.

I see your problem already. You have one assist. Give the losing teammates some kills and they will eventually stop losing. If you were roaming, you took too many kills. If you weren't, start.

That is barely an issue. Looks like his team wasn't focusing carries. I don't mean to knock his playstyle since I've never been in a match with him, but 14-0 and the carries weren't getting blown up.

Yeah yeah Vaynes slippery, but so is Fizz.. and Lux didn't even build hourglass.

understanding when to take objectives, when to fight and when to splitpush helps a lot

Grashnim1 votes

Dynamic queue lets you cheat, I mean take advantage of Riot's bad matchmaking algorithms. Thus group up, stomp, advance.

Errastas1 votes

Looking at your match history, it's only a matter of time before you hit Silver and then it won't be long before gold.

3ofGot40ve2 votes

Eh I believe in silver but IDK If IM gold. If I stick with katarina and teach myself some pressure techniques maybe gold :)

This comment actually made me very happy and motivated, thank you :)

Errastas1 votes

You're welcome :) Between Katarina and Fizz you should be able to make the climb to Gold.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

first off picking more than one assassin already dropped your team's chances of winning by a lot. also that game doesn't look all that winnable. either your team is tilted or the other team is simply better. also. they have a lot more gold the only way to win these games is to extend them to 50+ minutes where everyone has 6 items or so. but that isn't really always a possiblity

Gibberwatt1 votes

My usual plan is to let the other lanes fend for themselves a bit, and push to the mid tower. Two things can then happen: you can either take the other team's tower, and then roam all day long, or the other midlaner will call for help, and bring in the other jungler/support to 1v2/1v3 you. either way, its fine. What Im saying, basically, is to put so much pressure on mid that the other team either has to sacrifice it, or concentrate a large # of players to keep it.

Also, you could tell the other laners (especially chogath) to sit under tower and farm minons until you get there.
