Normals Matchmaking... What Gives?

So normally matchmaking seems to work pretty well for me. I mostly play normals, and depending on which friends I play with I usually see silver/gold players with the occasional plat and diamond.

Last game, however, our silver/gold ranked normal team faced two diamonds, a plat, a gold, and a silver. Is this what people complain about when they rant about Dynamic Queue? I figured it was low ranked players playing with a higher ranked player, not having most of one team be higher ranked than your entire team.

Yes, this is a bit of a rant just so I can vent, but I am also curious.
