Any plans with Thornmail?

It's been a while since has ever had changes. It has always been that one item that helps fend off auto-attack champs . However, Thornmail loses its effectiveness once the enemy adc, yi or Tryn get more damage+lifesteal and bonus armor pent. Not only it helps them sustain while tanking miminal damage, but allows them shred of the tank champion by ignoring an amount of bonus and doing high damage to survive the fight. Sometimes these champions might even build 2 lifesteal items and thornmail barely hurts them. I'm not asking or expecting buffs or small rework now, but I'm saying will there be any attempts in future patches.
