Mid Lane this Patch

So I've been playing league for almost 2 years, and mid lane has become my favorite lane over this time, first because of the amount of influence mid lane has on the pace and flow of the game, and second because I always have gravitated towards high damage burst champions, which are somewhat rare in other lanes. I'm a huge fan of Ahri, Zed, Talon, Lux, and Anivia. However, I'm a little bit frustrated this patch with the fact that I feel obligated to either pick a utility mage or Yasuo in order to have any real influence on the game at all. Got any ideas on what to do about this? I love Anivia and Lux to death, but it would be nice to be able to pick Zed or Talon and actually be able to one shot stuff consistently again... I would appreciate any advice you have on how to play mid lane this meta. Thanks!

With the meta seeming to favor burst right now I would imagine any AD assassin's would be just fine mid.

You literally have to build mana regen items first on a mage now just to sustain in lane long enough to be viable. It's just how it is now, which is why people are taking AD into mid lane instead of mages. I do pantheon mid and its freaking great. I can poke all day building in a manamune first. I really like to play Ziggs mid, but hes already a joke from past nerfs, but clarity used to let me sustain in lane a long time and push hard. Makes no sense that they got rid of it for the main game mode. Leblanc is easy go to for mid win right now, but shes a assassin. Pure mages are kinda bunk. Although I ready Swain can be beefy now. Kassadin is actually pretty nice now too. So yea either get a AD champ or Assassin or build mana regen first on a mage.
