Ekko's most annoying skill

Hige··6 votes·416 views

His double dash -.- not only does it covers quite a long range but it also "locks on".

If you happen to jump out while he's in range and casts his second jump it covers the distance and places him right on top of you.

I can live with his infinite stun and slows, I can live with him having basically 2 health bars, I can live with him getting away with a sliver of health time and time again... but that dash man, if anything tilts me is that dash...

and before you go and check my match history, yeah an enemy Ekko just solo carried a whole team against mine, I just needed to vent, I do think Ekko is kind of balanced either way but man that dash...

Honestly that's my favorite ability on Ekko. The blink only works when you have a target, so it can only cover max distance when targeting someone.

If he was to have an ability changed completely, I'd vote for his W. His E feels like an assassin ability.

I have no doubt that the skill is incredibly fun to use, reacting to it is kind of... impossible? the cooldown on it is pretty short I believe and being aware of his ult takes most of your concentration away, I think Ekko is the best skirmisher because of this, he wins by having small fights and one's dueling focus seems to be at it's peak during the first one only? sigh, I need to learn how to play against him more effectively

My advice is to consider the following:

Did he just W? Ok, what position would be best for him/worse for you to land in? (It's usually right behind, on top, or right in front of you as he attempts to predict movement). Find it and go the opposite direction.

So what you're saying is that his W will always move him in front of you? O.o so if I turn away he'll be "behind" me?

If you see him do the animation for his W (the batting thing with his weapon), he wants to use it to cut off escape paths, meaning it'll probably be just a bit behind you or to the side or wherever there's an escape route. Because otherwise, the only other way to escape is to go past him.

oooh yeah, I wasn't talking about his W :P I meant his dash, probably his E now that I know W is the stun/slow thing, sorry

If you're out of his E range though, the only way he could catch you somewhat reliably is by pinning you with his W. So if you see a W incoming, you can generally expect the E to come afterwards.

And if I remember correctly, Ekko's blink puts him in front of you. HIS front. (As in, you'll be in front of him, even if your character model wasn't facing him)

Yeah that's what I thought as well :P I got confused by the answer given by Ralanr.

As far as staying out of range well, that's a given, even though the range is pretty long and Ekko is pretty fast himself as well but you're right.

I think THE most OP skill in the game is Twisted Advance.

You could put that on anyone and break them. Also the ONLY BS part about Ekko's Dash is that it follows through on things like Ezreal E. And the fact that you can E proto Belt then auto for free AF gap close.

Hige1 votes

exactly! the protobelt thing just add even more range D: it's seriously annoying u.u

Is there a max distance Twisted Advance can travel? Would be funny to see a champ going through a Ryze portal with homegards on, then run a bit further just to teleport back to base because he got the time to do so.

It's not a double-dash. It's a dash into a situational blink auto-attack modifier. Just wanted to point that out.

It's not his E, it's his W. That's something an assassin shouldn't have.

-Huge reliable zoning power since unlike shaco boxes it's not destroyable

-A heavy AoE CC when you do work it

-And if you do work the Hard CC it has, it causes a situation like stun eve or silences on assassins, where there's no retaliation room for the burst you're about to receive

-Not to mention since it's much much more relaible for tank ekko, well with its explosion and unwillingness to die out, there's no need to really explain further

-Plus even before the stun it slows heavily making an additional slow for ekko

I love the skill itself, just want it on another release or reworked champion who ISN'T an assassin.

Also it's definitely not unreliable, it's not destroyable like shaco's fear boxes, nor is it's CD near an ultimate like fizz's pop up. Not to mention with practice it gets even easier to use.

If they reworked ekko into a bruiser it'd be fine to keep his W in exchange for some mobility and ad scalings, but they'd definitely have to rework W if he's going to stay as an assassin.

well his W is somewhat easy to avoid, even if the AoE is quite big but again... what makes W such a problem is that at times, ekko is like 1000 units away, he throws his W and you think:

Well I can just walk out of this

So you start walking back since the moment he hits the thing with a bat and then he proceeds to walk with his 340 ms + boots, dash and blink :S

His E alone atones for a total of 750 unit covered, he only needs to run for 250 units in order to appear right on top of you... so even if you start moving in time, a good ekko will catch you inside the E no matter what.

I think that an assassin having 750 range is pretty crazy, that's even longer than Cait's autoattack range...

EcchiOtakuTM2 votes

Well yea now that you mention, I could see a nerf to the 2nd part of E..., maybe the range is reduced for the direction the first part went in a 20-30(per side) degree radius? Sounds dumb but would enforce it's dodge and attack portion and minimize it's chase/engage potential a bit.

HOWEVER if that happened I think they'd be steering closer to a bruiser rework for ekko instead of closer to assassin because that change would be helping W to function. Instead of reworking W for assassin ekko to function.

I am at work and can't test. But can someone please play Mao top today rush ROA then hextech proto belt and Twisted advance onto someone root and proto belt. Bet you one shot any squishy in your game...

Critmaster Garen1 votes

honestly, i think its his w.

its giganic, and the visual effect only appears to you when it lands. when he throws it, you cant do anything better than guess where it might land and it feels almost random if you get hit by it. its hard to dodge an ability that you cant see until it lands, no matter how long the delay on it is.

if he misses it, you cant punish him for it, since he gets a hugeass shield and just runs away while throwing a q in your path. so he can try again later.

the general idea of his w and its huge delay before it hits the ground might be balanced on paper, but the ability just straight up sucks to play against.

his e is really just a mobility tool. its the fact that he can fuck up and get a shield for it anoys the hell out of me every time.

Hige1 votes

His W is pretty harmless unless he enters the AoE though, the tool to do this is his E :P

its only harmless when he misses. and then you cant punish him for it, since he gets this giant shield and just runs away. so he can try without getting punished until he hits.
