keep in mind that ip is getting changed to BE right after you get refunded. The absolute amount of ip you get matters less than what you can do with the ip. If riot quadruples the ip return and then quadruples anything you can buy with blue essence, will you really be better off?

The big thing everyone seems to be missing is that the entire currency system is changing. If you have 100 dollars and foreign exchange says they will only give you 84 euros for it, would you really be mad?

Champion prices are not changing at all, so I don't buy that argument.

they already said everything stays the same price so I don't really see where you're going with that

Only champion prices are set. The prices of the other stuff was based on how much ip and runes players have floating around. If riot had decided on a full rune refund, you can bet your ass the BE market items would end up costing more than if riot decided on a 20% refund.

Riot decided how much free stuff they want to give away next season a long time ago. They then decided refunds and BE market prices to match that level. They didn't just pull random numbers when deciding stuff. They actually have people looking into how much ip people have floating, how much blue essence and champion shards players have floating, and how much runes players have. They will then set BE prices based off of how many players they want to have access to each item.

only thing I have to say to that is no

Yea, but Riot is saying 100 dollars and 50 dollars are both worth 84 euros. 820 IP rune should not equal a 205 IP rune. I just ask for consistency.

Yes its extremly anoyng, I calculated how mutch monney I spent on runes and I will get back WAY less than I spent... I hopt its 100 blue essence BONUS because if not Im going to be mad.... you get 300 blue essence for big runes but thats only 1950 IP... when you think that some runes I have are 3k IP Im not happy there at all.

In the end the guys who bought runes THIS season who will "Only" get a refound will end in a better spot.

300 for a 1950 quint. That's not even a 20% refund. The only people who benefit are the people who have no runes. If you have every rune and champion, you won't care anyway because you probably have a boatload of IP right now. If you are between those two, you're getting screwed out of the deal, and that's why we should be vocal about this.

hey, atleast they were generous enough to DO that in the first place.

Do you take in to account the amount of game play you got from your rune purchase? You can't expect a 1 to 1 refund on items you have gotten plenty of use out of. Try doing that with a car is see how hard the dealership laughs at you.

The fact that Riot is giving us ANYTHING in return is a good thing. Be thankful and enjoy the improvement to the game. I happy to see Riot making changes and not just letting the game get stale.

Rune are meant to be permanent. New players bought runes when they had the price reduced, back when I got them they cost way more, and I get refunded based on the new price? That's not fair.

The runes I had didn't have an expiry date when I got them and I got them to get optimal pages on everything, even though some cost 2k each.

Now, I get 300 back. Whereas new players get nearly everything they paid for them back because the prices are so much lower and they don't own all the expensive ones.

IP isn't just currency, its time. That's the only way you get IP. I'm having an entire seasons worth of IP stolen from me. If this shop was meant to help veteran players get rewards, why aren't they refunding us a decent amount of what we paid?

New players get about 50% of what they paid back

I get about 10%. And I spent way more as well.

Be thankful

be thankful that they stole like 200k IP from me or more and are refunding almost nothing yet giving new players far more of what they spent back?

So you don't account for the use you got from them. Thank you for clearing that up.

Of course new players would, they got less use from their runes.

When you bought your runes it was to get the game play improvements, not to invest IP for future purchases. Runes are not a commodity that gains or even holds value. You got a bonus in game for the use of the runes as long as the system was being used. That system is changing and it will not cost you anymore to get gains in game.

You are not losing anything. In fact, Riot is giving you a bonus by rewarding you BE for supporting the old system. That is awesome!

If I lived in your world, when they shut down the Everquest servers Sony should have sent me a big fat check for all the money I paid them to play. But that's just not how it works in reality. You purchased runes with IP in order to get stat boosts in game. Riot delivered on their end of the deal. I don't know what all the crying is about.

so because I used them more because I played more, I have to lose more money when they take out this permanent system?

IP is not money. It is an in game currency only got by time played. That is a complete false equivalence.

You are not losing anything. In fact, Riot is giving you a bonus by rewarding you BE for supporting the old system. That is awesome!

I am losing thousands of hours of IP. Whereas players who sat on it and didn't buy runes just because they somehow guessed the system might be deleted one day have 10x my IP once this system is removed despite us playing the same amount of time. IP is just time played. This isn't fair.

And making 2k Quints give the same refund as 500 is also not fair.

Comparing runes to cars is comparing apples to oranges. The reason a car will lose value as it is used is because the mileage will cause wear and tear on it. The more miles a car has, the lower the value, because it will be that much more likely to need maintenance at any given time. In addition, newer models come out every year, so that would lower the value (if priced the same, the newer model would almost always be chosen by the buyer). Runes do not lose value. When you buy a rune, it will not perform less effectively by using it frequently. It doesn't break down or show wear and tear. I have played for years and I have not seen any new runes come out, so the one you have will not be obsolete. Apples to oranges.

SciFi Scrivener1 votes

The ones you have are obsolete in the new system. Apples to oranges is still comparing fruit to fruit. Not identical, but similar enough for an analogy.
