why we have crit imo

allot of people complain about having crit and how its rng. I think riot wont remove it because it would cause massive massive game balance issues. as an adc main without crit adcs would become almost useless against a tank heavy team (since the only way you can burn threw a tank is armour pen combined with crit) and no were near as strong as a apc (ap carry). so Riot would either have to buff adcs/ad items or nerf apc/tanks/apc and tank items. that would be a huge job so i think they would rather leave crit in then try and take it out and then rebalance the game.

we only ask to change crit from rng to % damage increased

a lot of threads showed how the damage won't be affected

so you would still have to change all crit items into damage modifiers idk hwo that would work. with ie crits give you a 120% damage increase but the average build only gives you around 55% crit chance if you changed that to %damage increase i dont see how 55% is close to 120% maybe they play with the numbers allot more idk plus show some math or links to others who have done the math becase if you just changed the crit chance to damage increase you would still have a hard time getting up to the 120% increased damage from ie with some crit chance.

simple

probability of doing a crit: 0.2 crit giving you 150% bonus damage

esperance: 0.2*1.5=0.3

IE gives you an average of 30% bonus damage. change ie passive to: increase the damage of your AA by 30%

i guess it could work you will gain consistent damage but you will lose burst (with my full build you lose around 50 damage per aa) which you should technically make that 50 ad up in the long run

well, it's less than 30% bonus damage, because crit use pseudo random which means a binomial distribution. With a binomial D. the average damage is lesser.

true but the higher your crit chance the higher that average gets

like the way ashe is now?

Alternately, make Crits ignore a (large) amount of the target's resistance. Tune it so the break-even point is somewhere around 120ish armor or so.

That would allow ADCs to burn down Tanks without turning soft targets into a fine red mist.

well that's sorta the sate of the game atm late game soft targets are 2-3 autos with tanks (im talking about full tanks) being 8+ aa and that's with 90% crit chance lol

That would be fine if we had enough AD and AS from items to supplement that, so they could still kill tanks or squishy units.

Having the damage output balanced around Crit's existence means that removing the damage multiplier causes Marksmen to lose the potency that allows them to be glass cannons.

Oh certainly.

Note: we still don't have a BF Sword item that combines with any form of attack speed. If Crit were pushed toward a tank-buster stat, then we would need more AD/IAS options without a doubt.

That's basically the reason. ADCs were balanced around Crit Chance existing, items were designed around its existence...and while Crit Chance is a bit of a problem, it overall causes far fewer problems than other RNG effects in the past had created. Tends to happen when you design the game with that effect in mind.

yes and since its been designed around that any changes would cause balance issues and its not really that big a deal

Basically, they've known that Crit Chance would need to change, but they haven't got a better system to replace it. This system, while a bit old and clunky, still works relatively well, and game balance was built around it, so it's going to stay unless they find something very simple that can replace it.
