What if Vayne was nerfed?

ArkenStorm··3 votes·456 views

Might she be balanced if, say, her w was kept the same except for the %MAX HP TRUE DAMAGE was changed to a flat 5% instead of 4/5/6/7/8%? what if the q buff was also reverted, so that tumble's CD started after the bolt was fired? (on that note, do the same for Riven's q, start CD after all "charges" are used ahem pay no attention to this)

Also what if sated devourer didn't exist(EDIT: not a sated devourer complaint. Just a pondering)

EDIT: THIS IS NOT A QQ THREAD. THIS IS JUST A QUESTION THREAD, NOT ASKING FOR A NERF. SHE MAY BE BALANCED AS IS. IT'S JUST ME THINKING OUT LOUD

Vayne is in a position where the meta decides whether she is strong or weak. It's arguably the best balance position to be in, because instead of a change from the balance team keeping her in check it's up to the players, which can work much faster.

Of course this is only my opinion on things, however Vayne doesn't feel nearly as oppressive as she used to, so I figure something else is going on. Vayne actually being in a relatively balanced position fits this best in my mind.

You misunderstand. That "buff" was closer to a bug fix. Any other ranged champion that has a stacking on-hit/on-next-hit effect loses the effect upon firing the attack rather than after the attack connects. Vayne's Tumble was acting like a melee champion on-hit instead, only starting the cooldown after the bolt struck the target.

Also, Silver Bolts is fine, it's actually one of the weaker %HP effects in the game until your opponent has excessive resistances. Also, complaining about Sated Devourer is akin to complaining about Nasus/Veigar Qs. Also, Riven's Q is fine.

ok, so start it after the bolt is fired, not after it hits. I can't believe you didn't listen though, I said don't pay attention to that ;) however, I disagree. being able to constantly have her q up is a bit ridiculous, especially with its mobility and utility, plus the bit of damage it has.

Also, silver bolts is decent, but true damage is true damage and is a tad ridiculous when it does almost 10% of your max hp. that's why I think it should be nerfed slightly

Oh also I wasn't complaining about sated devourer, that was a literal "what if," just a ponder

You realize the true damage applies on the third consecutive hit? How many times are you letting her hit you for that third true damage hit to be a genuine problem?

That's exactly what the change did.

I don't tend to ignore what people say or write. It's a side effect of paying attention. And the only time she can constantly have her Q up is if she has maxed CDR and only uses it once per ~3 seconds.

It does that much per 3 attacks. Yes, it packs a punch, because it's not on every basic attack, it's every 3 basic attacks. Its power is offset by the fact that >80% of her damage output is still going to be physical, unless the target is Rammus wearing every last Thornmail on the planet.

Oh also I wasn't complaining about sated devourer, that was a literal "what if," just a ponder

Most people don't make that "what if" without some sort of residual hatred for the item.

Twas jokes about the ignorance. also I am not most people. This is not meant to be a QQ thread. It was just a whole what if thread. I'll edit

The most problematic aspect of Silver Bolts: It features quite a decent base damage on top of its %-HP attack.

As explained in the threads regarding the Fiora rework, %-HP true damage is an effect that is, in essence, target-agnostic. It doesn't hurt HP-stackers more than HP+Armor-stackers and it doesn't hurt squishies more than tanks.

However, the flat damage component of Silver Bolts throws this off. With it, the ability chunks squishies harder than HP-based tanks, relatively speaking - 60 true damage is equal to 4% HP of a 1500 HP target, but only 2% of a 3000 HP one.
