Refunded Bard after two games...
This is totally more of a Rant than anything else, but at least it starts the discussion. It might just be me, but I feel like Bard is some cruel joke. He has a lot of cc, but it's not worth it. I would like a refund token returned to me for wasting it on trying him, and here are my list of grievances:
.) All the meeps start appearing in enemy jg and you can't do anything about it except wait for some to appear safely near you, or take the risk and ward enemy jg while you're out.
.) His counter-play is ridiculously easy. Did he just q? Then go #$%& him up.
.) Place a ward near dragon to catch him leaving bot lane if he attempts to invade friendly jg to collect meeps. Did he enter our jg? Then go #$%& him up.
.) His movement speed is 330. Seriously? His name should be the slowly trudging fat guy because he barely moves at 330. He depends so much on mobility for him not to have at least 335. Was that a Bard? THEN GO #$%& HIM UP.
.) False bonus movement speed. If Bard receives a slow, he's been shut down. It seems to be that even at 5 stacks, and movement boots, it only takes one movement speed reduction to slow him down to nothing. Just as if his movement speed never mattered.
.) No item capability. This goes with the 330 movement speed. He doesn't have very good regen, base stats, or anything really. He doesn't excel at anything but cc, so why are cc items in his recommended build?
.) 11 second meeps. That's too long to make an attack. Perhaps 11 seconds for two meeps would be better since I have to take the huge risk of going into enemy jg to collect meeps in the first place. You can make meeps rewarding by just making them relevant.
.) 1.8 second stun. Like serious wtf for that. What's wrong with a flat or max 2 second stun? Do you know how hard it is to line up a champion with a minion, wall or other champion? On top of that, once Bard Q's, he will get #$%& up. (See #2) I deserve that stun to let me run away or throw meeps.
.) Ultra patience required for 11 second q, 110 second r, 20 second w, and 24 second e. I literally just stand in the lane because I have no meeps to throw, no q, used the e to create a wall for the hell of it and save my r so that if a party at bot starts I can get away because my chances are so low without it.
.) Bard was expected before he was ever released. He is the epitomy of the complaints that Riot refuses to consider. Too much cc, too much mobility, too difficult (that catered to the pro's bs. Who honestly pays for skins? The pro's or us?) and too boring. Everything for bard is a critical decision. Do I want to damage or do I want to escape? The w doesn't do much in the way of escape unless you previously placed them in the right spots for escape. But forget about it if the team slows you after you pick it up.
.) AP mid has a new stasis. His ult can stop other champion's ultimates, except, certain champions like ez, morg, fiddle, (and yi's q) and the other typical stasis champions. How clutch is it if you give the enemy team a free pass to damage you and your team? I literally had an ez who would ult every time I ulted him because he could still shoot it at me through stasis.
.) Super-Meta champion. Bard couldn't be anything else other than support bot. He is too reliant on other damage to follow up on him. He's fixed with the items that he'd build. To get the most out of Bard, you have to play him as intended. I can't jg bard, I die. I saw a few Bard mid and they were awful. He's good at one thing only, Crowd Control.
I'm not a person for playing support, since I always end up carrying the carry. I understand supports have a more passive mentallity, but c'mon I'm sitting around 10 seconds at a time wasting away. Supports don't have to be such boring champions. And all the tunes and flashy lights seem to try to hide the dullness, but it doesn't. As stated long before, I'd like my refund token back. Bard might actually be the first champion I'd like to see get removed from the game. My experience with him so far has been that awful.
