What type of support do you prefer?

There are many different types of support I just want to see what is the type of support that people prefer on their team and why.

Tank support: These one are tanky but also brings a lot of cc in a team fight. They tend to build tank items that offer utility. Thresh Blitzcrank Braum Malphite Alistar Leona Nautilus TahmKenchTaric
Secondary mage support: They have little utility but they do a lot of damage. They tend to build ability power or utility support items. Annie Brand Fiddlesticks Lux Morgana Velkoz KarmaZilean Zyra
Ap utility scaling support: They bring a lot of utility but little damage that tend to fall off late game. You can either build ability power or utility support items. Bard Janna Lulu Soraka Sona Nami

So which type of support role do you prefer on your team and why? Just because ur favorite or your top type of support role you play if your confuse.

AP utility scaling supports are the best because they can erase mistakes your team makes. If you are out of position, all of the mentioned supports in the OP can save you, so the enemy team effectively has to kill you twice.

Tank Support all the way. I need to stay alive so I can help out; simple as that.

I play a little of all. I play Thresh Lulu Annie Karma Morgana Nami Leona Gragas Maokai Janna down in the bot lane.

I don't know how to vote :(

I prefer tank support because they don't need levels or items to cc people. They're useful even if they're behind provided someone on your team can take advantage of the cc.

I'm a little unsure about your classifications, because I see Taric as a very different class of champion than Leona, even though they're both tanks.

Taric is a utility-tank, as is Alistar to a lesser extent. They are more focused on defending and utility, as opposed to the more initiate/lockdown focus of the other tanks.

That said, when I'm playing ADC, I'd much rather have an AP utility scaling support next to me. I'm not great at that role, so I like an ally who can help keep me alive and later provide lots of utility for my team, rather than one who is mostly focused on all-ins (and can easily become useless of we fall too far behind in lane.)

When I'm playing other roles, I don't usually care that much what type of support we have, though I do like to have a tanky one if I am playing a squishy jungler or top.

If my team needs tank, i go tank, but i have become more attracted to the utility supports as i have gotten better at support. The utility supports just bring so much to the team. When I am a utility support, i do better at getting my adc out of a gank, do better at helping my jungle catch people out, and generally bring more to a team fight. Even when i i play alistar and consistently deny engagements to the Leonas/Nautli, or play Nautilus and lock down the enemy carry every teamfight, it just does not feel like i have the same consistant usefulness i have as a Nami or Bard.

this is literally the case for zilean. if you can time your chronoshift right 90% of the time you will be a god among men.

I play Brand and nothing but Brand.

I main Sona and Morgana support (with the occasional Janna) for the AP/utility. I love playing this style and I've been told I play it well.

However, if I'm playing ADC, then I feel more comfortable with a tanky support like LeonaBraumBlitzcrank or Thresh.

And 100% of the time, regardless what role I'm playing, I hate Annie support. Like, please no.

a support that doesn't get raped first 4 mins.

I'm a Nami and Karma main myself, so I can't really choose one haha. I like Karma's damage, that's for sure, but Nami's utility is pretty essential as well. I chose Secondary Mage but honestly I love them both.

As for me? Almost always Thresh . Utilize the Flay passive for some nice poke. Terrorize them from the bushes and pressure them so my ADC can relax and farm without worrying about enemy laners.

Side note: So excited to play some Nami again after the new buffs!

as long as i feel they can set me up for some kills or keep me safe idc. The supports i play are the tank and utility ones mostly

Ternt8/21/2015, 4:42:33 PM1 votes

I prefer lockdown Supports like Thresh and Nautilus . I've never really played any others like Lux, Annie, Janna, Soraka, etc because they don't fit my playstyle.

I tend to be either a tank support or utility support. I can seriously mess the enemy up with either of those two. Lately I've been branching off to be a mage support.
