You can still take an armor rune for jungle. It is just a rune everyone hates.

Wasting a secondary path for 5 armor when old rune gave 9.... not worth. Your champion may not have good other rune in resolve.

I'd still consider it on a mage if their laning phase needs some help and I plan on building a bit of armor later on. The base five plus two more when healed at level 1 makes 7, which isn't terrible.

FoggyPaws1 votes

It's useful in the early jungle too, especially with the new buffs on jungle items making camp clearing easier for squishier champions.

If found that getting 350g and then just recalling for the other half of the jungle item is really effective if you're a really squishy jungler, even moreso if you have a MS steroid to get back into the jungle quicker

It's not just 5 Armor, it's 5 Armor + 5%, and if you go Jungle, you have at the very least Revitalize, that increases the heal from your Jungler Items. Overgrowth is also pretty generically useful. The other row, I agree, is more specialized and not interesting for everyone, but you can still find 2 useful Runes in Resolve to splash it.

5% when healed or shield

does healing from health pots at least count to the rune?

DeathBurst1 votes

Yes it does.

DeathBurst1 votes

Yeah, which is super easy to proc in the jungle thanks to jungle items.

especially since neither "early game" is ever worth getting over the "late game" 10 min delay one.

you can still take an armor rune, but not for jungle however; it does not give enough tankiness for jungling on off-meta picks.

FCJAAAAGOOOO1 votes

Truth. Just get more damage if you're jungling haha. The jungle is no place for tanks right now.

According to op.gg, the second highest win rate in the past 7 days belongs to Rammus.

FCJAAAAGOOOO1 votes

I would call mAh bo1 big dAddy rammus an exception to the norm.

Escheton1 votes

Yes, because Rammus is mostly a counterpick and as such should be expected to win more on average.

Rammus always excels when AD is very dominant.

Yeah, I can understand that. Dude shit on my whole team last game.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Tell that to Rammus, he shot up like a rocket.

Seju also hangs on to the 12th spot and maokai at the 13th.

They are by no means anywhere near bad x)

jungle was more than compensated with item 1041 and item 1039. melee lane matches however.

FCJAAAAGOOOO2 votes

Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeah, basically.

Squishies can still mid but unless they can either kite or literally blow up the jungle they'll get pelted by autos from everything and just die. 9 less base armor is only ~5% less physical damage resistance at level 1 but it's a real factor both in lane and in jungle. Most mages can manage top well too, where they can kite or straight-up counter a lot of the meta there. Also supporting as a mage isn't the worst thing ever usually as you can really abuse your AoE spells against 2+ champions.

Mage start with 18-22 base armor. At 18, 9 armor reduce 8%, at 22 -7%. (I did the calcul). This is non negligable when you trade a lot (monster in jungler or vs ad in lane).

+5% is nothing if you plan to play a carry jungler, you need flat armor, especially in the early game for non meta jungler.

Maybe i'm missing something, but everyone in the game was supposed to get a consequent armor buff in this patch, correct?

FoggyPaws1 votes

They gave champions most of their most used runes as compensation buffs

FoggyPaws1 votes

Most champions got base station buffs that pretty well compensate for the removal of the old rune system. Most of which were buffed by almost exactly 9 armor If an armor buff didn't happen on a particular champion, they were buffed in other ways.

Also jungle items are better now too.

You don't alway carry the same rune and people don't all use the same rune. New rune systeme is killing diversity. I've seen thing like Diamond 2 ADC Ahri only, now they can't do it anymore. Instead she got compasated in HP, a rune you use in ap vs ap mid only.

New rune systeme is only replacing masteries. Base stat compasation from champion and rune are standard base stat you can no longer customize as much as we used to.

FoggyPaws2 votes

I'd have to argue that it's actually opened up a lot of diversity, even if it stops people from playing other off-meta picks, there are plenty of new off-meta picks to choose from.

I don't see any diversity. You are taking a guess. At least me I explain why X or Y doesn't work anymore. Unless you really do have argument, then I'm waiting.

FoggyPaws1 votes

I mean, I've been having a blast playing Anivia support with the new rune system, I saw a Xin-Maokai bot lane do really really well, Mordekaiser is playable again, Mundo is playable again. A friend of mine has been playing a lot of Shen support too, with good results thanks to the Font of Life rune and being a tank that can deny auto attacks in an aoe. Lulu top lane is also pretty good again thanks to Lethal Tempo, but even Press the Attack really helps her damage out letting her punish lane opponents extra hard for trying to farm against her.

I could give you off-meta options all day You don't have to be belligerent about this, I wasn't taking any guesses, I just feel like I shouldn't have to explain myself since runes happened like a week ago and you couldn't possibly have had enough time to sift through every champion and rune combo to see if anything off meta works well. All you've done is make a general "new runes kill diversity" statement, and have only offered one example, that of which should be a fairly difficult off-meta pick to begin with

It's because it's a topic about one complain and I was specifically talking about diversity in jungle and bot lane explained by the issues not everyone got armor.

I've seen anivia bot before pre-season, it synergise very well with vayne condemn. Thank to her cc and wall. I've seen shen support quite a lot too. Mundo & Mordekaiser are still played the same, their issues was game balancing/meta if we talk about champion we don't see I could name nunu, aatrox, but this is off topic. But if we talk about a suddent viable ap aatrox mid, then we are on the topic. Beside Xin Xao bot lane (And I doupt its viability on high elo), there are nothing new from the new rune systeme you name. What does new rune make Xin xao bot viable now compared to before? You're making guess simply based on the fact we have multiple rune option to proof we do have diversity. How do you know these rune will bring more diversity than the old systeme in jungle and bot lane.

Nope, ranged mage for example got hp scaling instead.

FoggyPaws1 votes

I'm not making guesses I'm telling you from experience, and elo isn't relevant here because playing Ahri ADC to diamond doesn't matter, Diamond is Just more bronze, as the joke goes.

All you're doing is being a jerk, you gotta open your mind a little and try some things out, it's preseason, that's the point. I've offered my arguments, if you don't want to act like an adult and talk about them with a level head that's fine, but don't attack me just because you haven't had the time to acclimate to the new rune system, I've had time to test weird shit on the PBE, and I can tell you all kinds of new stuff is playable.

FoggyPaws1 votes

You have no sense of humor, it was a light hearted joke, pull your panties out of wherever they're stuffed.

Just because YOUR off-meta pick doesn't work as well anymore doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of new off-meta picks to try out.
