Give us some sort of feedback on aatrox.

I have seen at least 5 threads in the past week about Aatrox. Before this, I didn't even know that people knew he existed! He has never been in the limelight except when he was released and right before he got gutted. However, even though some of them have gotten an extremely high number of upvotes, no red post. Please give us something on him, Riot.

Aatrox mains, like myself, want him fixed. Although not a lot of people play him, it's because he isn't strong enough to be played! Everything he can, another champion can do better. A blood-bathed god of war that is able to change the tide of a battle? Hell no. That's not what he is. He's a statue that sits there in place and AAs people to death, all while being one of the only Melee ADCs that doesn't have an auto reset, and has one of two bonus damage aa modifiers that doesn't benefit from lifesteal, even when he's supposed to be a sustain monster from the way his kit currently is. He's a decent duelist, and his laning phase is actually quite strong, however, if he doesn't get fed, he will be useless mid-late, and if he does get fed, he'll be unstoppable. So you either become impossible to kill, or completely useless. It's kinda like a shitty Draven, but if you fall behind, you have no chance of coming back. Draven at least has a window of opportunity to comeback, while Aatrox doesn't. From the way people play him, he's kinda like Nasus. He likes to sit top, and farm all game, because that's simply all he can do. Difference between the two? Nasus actually benefits from it. Being one of (from my knowledge) 3 champions that can take drag at level 1, HE STILL ISN'T USEFUL AS A JUNGLER! HE CAN SOLO DRAGON AT LEVEL, AND COME OUT AT AT LEAST HALF HEALTH! But ya know what? His ganks are ok, his clearing is ok, and his late game pushing is pretty good. His teamfighting is terrible, though. You know who else has all those attributes? Udyr. Udyr can be a duelist, a tank, a fighter, a mage, a pushers, anything. AND HE DOES ALL OF THOSE BETTER THAN AATROX. Udyr has better ganks, unparalleled clearing, can solo drag at level 1, and his late game pushing is amazing. His teamfighting is terrible. TBH, Aatrox actually has a better teamfight than Udyr. BUT UDYR DOES EVERYTHING ELSE BETTER. Aatrox can be a mage, a really shitty one, but he can do. He kills people in a split second like that. But then he's done. He used his burst on one champion, and now all he can do is auto attack, but he doesn't have the attack speed or lifesteal to like that. So he kills one person, and then dies. Udyr can do the same thing, he won't kill them nearly as fast, but he will live a lot longer. Meddler, a year ago, said that Aatrox was in an "Ok spot". He is not, and he hasn't been since you gutted him.

If you buff him, he becomes extremely problematic. If you slightly rework him, he will most likely become extremely problematic. If you re-release him, he will be fine. He'll pull a Sion, and actually become viable. If you remove him, 90% of the players of this game won't even notice. But whatever you do, you must do something. He is far too weak to be a "God of war".

He doesn't do enough damage to build damage. He isn't tanky enough to build tanky. He can't do anything. He is useless. He is my favorite champion, but he is useless. I don't play him because his abilities are fun. I play him for he is lore-wise, but his kit does not fit his lore. Talk about "Lore-breaking" champions? This is the number one offender. A god of war who changes the tides of battle would not be so selfish. He brings nothing to a teamfight but an unreliable AoE knockup that is becoming significantly worse with the mobility creep, and a weak ass aoe nuke that gives him some attack range and some attack speed.

TL;DR Aatrox is not in an "OK spot", his is in a worthless spot. My favorite champion is so bad, I choose not to play him. I choose Riven, Rengar, and Talon. The first of which stomps him. I used to main top lane and jungle Aatrox nonstop, but now, I can't even play him. I just can't bring myself to lose a game just because I wanted to play my favorite champion. Everything he can do, someone can do better (Except level 1 solo drag, which is almost a useless strat). Need good ganks? Rek'Sai. Need good sustain? Fiddlesticks? Need good sustain and not be instakill? Warwick and Xin Zhao. Need a good initiation? Malphite. Need a good tank? Don't even look at Aatrox for that, because he isn't a tank. Need a good melee ADC? Go Xin, even though Xin isn't a melee adc, he does it better than Aatrox. Need a good all around jungler? Rek'Sai or Udyr. He is not in an ok spot. You can't just buff him. You have to give him the Sion treatment.

I usually don't complain about this, but you have been extremely quiet on this subject, and this is actually one issue that I care about. I check the PBE each update to see if you done anything about him. Every day, I'm more and more disappointed and slowly giving up hope.

I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY AATROX WITHOUT BEING CALLED A TROLL. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?

Aatrox is not a melee ADC.

He's a mixed fighter tank that relies on high sustain and a revive to supplement any tank items he builds.

You're also comparing one part of his kit with one part of another champions kit which is dumb.

He is an ok spot, could use very minor buffs that target how his passive functions which would make his early game better if he gets behind.

And his high sustain still isn't enough. His base stats are too weak to be a fighter and he doesn't have enough life steal to be a true melee adc. He can build tanky, but then he STILL isn't useful. He can't help too much in teamfight.

And I mostly compared Aatrox to Udyr. Not just one part of his kit to Udyr's, but the whole kit in general and just how the champions work. Udyr can clear better, ganks better, push faster and safer, and generally survives longer in the jungle because he is naturally a little tanky and even then has sustain to sit on top of it. Aatrox doesn't have bad clears, but they aren't nearly as good as Udyr's. Aatrox doesn't gank as well, and he can't push as fast or as safe. Udyr has a decent escape with Bear Stance movespeed, while Aatrox's one mobility ability can easily be interrupted, costs health, is slow, and extremely easy to predict and follow. While Bear Stance is easily predicted, he just moves so god damn fast, you can't catch him.

I could compare Aatrox to a more viable jungler, if you want. Rek'Sai. Top of the tier. Rek'Sai generally speaking has less sustain. Rek'Sai has higher base stats. Rek'Sai has a more reliable escape and initiation, even when they're on the same ability (Like Aatrox). Rek'Sai has very slightly less AD. Rek'Sai has very slightly less movespeed. Rek'Sai has very slightly less BASE attack speed, but tremendously less actual attack speed, even with the passive steroid on her ult. Rek'Sai clears better. Rek'Sai ganks better. Rek'Sai is more mobile. Rek'Sai can actually scale well into the late game as a tank, while Aatrox can't. Rek'Sai can be an extremely strong lane bully and roamer. Aatrox can't. Rek'Sai is pretty damn hard to counter (Let's forget that the fish exists for a second.), while Aatrox is countered by some of the most popular champions (Riven, Jax, Darius, just to name a few).

No matter how you look at it, he is not viable. an "Ok spot" would be viable.

He does have high sustain. If you're not getting high sustain then you're doing something wrong. Especially considering that he gets triple healing under 50% hp from his W and that it's not even affected by a targets armor.

Yes udyr is a better jungler than aatrox. But aatrox's jungle is actually just not great, it's workable, but he's far superior in lane. Aatrox's ganks are actually pretty good when jungling or roaming though (I don't know why people struggle to land his knock up, it's not hard). Aatrox can push just as fast if not faster as udyr though. Aatrox's dash is only interrupted by abilities that knock-up/disrupt movement (so not stuns, slows, etc), so if you know an enemy has one of those skills it's probably best to know when you should and should not use your Q. Costing health isn't an issue with his level of sustain.

Not every champion needs to be a 'viable' jungler. Aatrox is fine in lane. Aatrox also scales just fine into the game as a tank (assuming you still built hydra/blade and have a solid mix of HP/Resists). Darius and Jax aren't popular and Riven Darius are strong against a lot of champions and that doesn't make them unviable. Jax can be beaten as an aatrox if you play the match up correctly.

He is viable.
