What does Riot want Teemo to be?

I want to know what role Riot wants Teemo to be. Teemo wasn't included in the Marksman, or Mage updates. It now looks like he's not getting touched in this Assassin update (minus his passive being updated for clarity). He had his shrooms and passive tweaked a long time ago but that's it. His "W" is out classed by all the more recent gap closers and jumps, and the new control wards disabling traps / "shimmer" changes seem like notable nerfs.

Does Riot simply think Teemo is in a good place, or are you guys and gals unsure how to classify him. I'd love some feedback, thanks.

He's a hybrid champ.

They're all hard to update without making them lose their identity.

(yes some of you might disagree with kayle, but she does have a viable AD build.)

Teemo's kit, while outdated and toxic in lane, is also incredibly cohesive. His E won't work without W, his short range calls for Q, but with longer range and early damage from E he would be pretty broken on bot, he needs a slow, but it needs to be very situational like shrooms are, or he will get to bully even harder, his Q can't really be a skillshot or every ranged champion would wreck him etc.

Outside of his passive, changing one or two abilities won't work - it can easily break the champion, or make him unusable, like most fan reworks of Teemo posted on boards would do.

He is in no way a candidate for a roster project. He needs either full VGU, or to be left alone.

Note that not every Marksman was touched in the Marksman update and not every Mage was touched in the Mage Update and so on and so forth.

It appears he currently sits in the Marksman and Controller categories, meant to deal ranged DPS damage through auto attacking while also setting up zones of control with his abilities.

They want him to be a Controller/Marksman champion. More specifically, Disruptor/Marksman. That's a strange category to be in since you are a Marksman, meaning you need gold, but at the same time a Support-like champion so the other half of you says "Nah, I just need to be providing vision and blinds". He's a really weird champion to where, when you get into high ranks, you play him for his Q and R's vision yet, due to you being unable to increase the potency of his R's vision and Q up time other than CDR, people mainly just build him damage to make him useful late game.

He is just weird and annoying and needs updates, whether it be a good bit of minor number tweaks or maybe even a full rework.
