Devourer and the Stacking Mechanic

Something I've found very unsatisfying is the stacking mechanic. Often times, I can't efficiently stack it because of the expensive cost of the enchantment. I get it usually at about seven minutes in, and I'm doing full clears with ganks before I back. I feel it would be more satisfying, if there was an item I could afford on my first back that I could start stacking. What I think would be a good idea is to bring back Madred's Razors and implement it into Wit's End as well. However, it would cap out until you upgraded it to either Wit's End or Devourer.

Think Seeker's Armguard, but on-hit magic damage.

it's a fairly strong item. while jungling, i kind of feel the same way, but i also understand that if you have unlimited scaling, it should take some time to get really strong. if the item was free for example and gave you 100 stacks right away, then that would be op 100%. I'm going extremes of course, but it's the same thing if you can get the item 5 minutes in. those 2 minutes can get you quite a bit of stacks.

it's the same reason nasus has such a weak early game. if he was strong in lane and could free farm, he would scale faster. his late game would be in the mid game.

if you are talking about reducing it by 100 gold or something, then that might be ok. it depends how big of a change you are talking about. i find the cost fine though.

What I am referring to is similar to what's going to happen to Juggernaut. For 1000 gold, you can get a mini Sunfire Cape that improves clear and makes you tanky. The final upgrade to Cinderhulk gives you more damage and more health. What I'm getting at is that, you wouldn't have to upgrade your Bami's Cinder until you had enough health for the passive bonus health to matter. That's what I want to have done to Devourer.

it doesn't sound too big so it would maybe be fine. might help a lot of junglers other than vi/j4 which is good also. it's not that I don't like vi and j4 either, it's that they have picked/ban too often right now.

Yeah! It wouldn't be a buff to top tier junglers. It would be a quality of life change for junglers that can use the stacking mechanic. Starting out with 25 stacks just seems unsatisfying. I'd like to get the item on my first full clear back, skipping the jungle item, and start stacking.

It should just be a passive on the smite upgrade (i.e. Poacher's/Ranger's/Skirmisher's/Stalker's) so it retains stacks but doesn't actually provide the on-hit damage until (and IF) you upgrade to Devourer.

The problem with this is that people would be able to take Warrior for more early game dominance, and then switch to Devourer whenever your stacks outscale the Warrrior enchant. This is what I would do.

I think he's proposing that if you don't upgrade into devourer you lose the stacks after upgrading to a different item. Plus you can't change enchantments, you'd have to buy the item all over again thus resetting the stacks anyway.

I see. That would be agreeable, but I would like the option to start stacking early over later. Something I can think that I would do on some of my junglers is forgo the jungle item upgrade and go straight for the stacking item. I don't even care if it starts at zero. I just want the stacking mechanic to feel more rewarding.

EDIT: To elaborate, I want options. I want the option to start stacking, but also the option to upgrade the enchantment when I would like to. I do not wish to be forced to drop 1500g asap.
